Perfect YHA to stay in - especially if you're a Ridgeway walker.

Stayed here for one night in May. It wasn't very busy. The room was clean and spacious, and not expensive. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, showing me where everything was. There's a well-maintained kitchen here that I used to cook an evening meal, and multiple showers/bathrooms on all floors.

They also offer breakfast. As I was the only one there that early, the gentleman working was very attentive, and made me my own cafetiere of coffee. Plenty of breakfast to go around too - and again, not expensive.

The perfect spot to stay.

Not a bad location. About a mile or so from the train station but in a straight line through the village. The location was quiet.

The hostel was quite quiet, not many people were booked in when I stayed but that could have been for a number of reasons, I hear a rowing club was booked in the weekend before.

Staff were friendly and professional.

My room was not ensuite. There was shared toilet and showers nearby although I understand some rooms do have their own showers. There are enough communal showers for when it is full.

One good thing for me is that you did not need to go too far from your room to the kitchen, so after a long walk when you have taken your coat and shoes off you just need to pop down one flight to the kitchen. I've stayed in hostels where my room has been on the other side of the building to the kitchen.

There is a self catering kitchen and also the option to have a cooked breakfast. I wasn't staying long so brought my own breakfast and ate at the pub next door or went to the Fish and Chip shop in Goring.

As the hostel was pretty quiet I was a bit apprehensive about staying there but I was assured that the managers were close by and I was told there is a number to call in an emergency, I felt a bit better after that.

It is in need of refurbishment and an update of furniture etc.

My only gripe was that it does need a good clean and dusting. There was a lot of dust on the skirting and windowsills. There was dust on the rungs of the bunk bed and it really bothered my allergies. I was only booked in for two nights but if I was there longer I would have bought some wipes to give my room an extra clean so that I wasn't affected too much. I understand some places gather dust more than others so this is not a bad comment against the managers who were extremely friendly and helpful.

I definitely would consider this hostel again if considering staying in the area again.

I am a member of the YHA and took advantage of the 20% winter deal for a mini break at YHA Streatley-on-Thames. I booked a private room for the duration of my stay and took advantage of the cooked breakfast option on a couple of mornings. My stay was pleasant enough, although the hostel is in need of some modernisation. It gave me a feeling of nostalgia with its old-fashioned charm. No doubt a quiet getaway but with enough local walks to interest both seasoned and occasional hikers (just be prepared for the hill!).

This was the last hostel my family and I stayed at after touring around the UK for 13 days. During our stay, there were not many guests at all so we could explore and have fun wherever we wanted. The building was definitely older than the other hostels we have been to but the quality of the service was not any worser. The staff was friendly and we had an amazing talk with Mr. Barnes before leaving. A great memory to be remembered!

I had a comfortable 1-night stay at the YHA. As it was during the low season I had a 5 bed dormitory with washbasin all to myself. I used the kitchen for self-catering and ate my own breakfast in the dining room. There were at least four other solo travellers whom I met in the communal kitchen area and this made for a friendly experience - a bonus for me! Excellent YHA communication and hospitality from start to finish.

Very nice location and the staff treat you with respect.||Positives - very nice breakfast. Drying room. Well fitted out kitchen. I was lucky and was given a room to myself at the back so I was delighted. Shower (shared) was good.||Negatives - Had to wait until 5 to book in. Wish they had a brew kit you could use as after a day on the hills it would have been nice to get a brew. Strangely could not book via YGA website but could via another website. ||Location is spot on. Pub next door (I did not go into it) and Goring is just over the bridge and they have a small Tesco and some coffee shops.||Thanks to the team @ YHA Streatley

This is a great YHA. Close to town and Thames Path. Clean and well cared for. Tight on parking at times. Good hearty breakfast served to order.
