There are two things you should consider when taking an African Safari.

1. It is nearly impossible to book a good safari on your own.
2. Book with Yellow Zebra.

Take this advice from a person that praises himself on booking his own vacations. Go through Yellow Zebra. From beginning to end, the experience was fantastic. They listen to what you are looking for, give you options, and take care of everything for scheduling. Oh, and they make sure you are in good hands to resolve any issues that could arise. I 100% recommend Yellow Zebra.

I highly recommend Yellow Zebra Safaris for planning your safari adventure. I was so happy we booked our Honeymoon through Yellow Zebra. Catherine Allen was our safari specialist and she was unbelievably helpful from start to finish, nothing was ever too much to ask. We have never been on a safari before so didn’t really know what we wanted but after our first chat with Catherine we knew we were in safe hands! She listened to what we wanted, talked about her own experience on the lodges, and devised a perfect itinerary after looking over and narrowing down the many options. Always happy to tweak anything to fit our needs too. When we arrived in South Africa we were looked after so well by the operations team and the team on the ground making sure all our transfers and flights were seamless. I am a bit of a nervous traveller but there was always some on one on the end of the phone to help with any worries! Booking through Yellow Zebra was so well planned, worry and stress free and tailored to our individual interests. Matt was responsive and available to us whenever we had questions, and other aspects of the booking looked after by others were equally as efficient, visas, etc.

Our first trip to Africa, very first safari experience, and our honeymoon all rolled into one. Yellow Zebra outdid themselves! We had an absolute ball and made memories for a lifetime! This company knows what they're doing. The prices are well worth what you get out of the trip, and EVERYTHING (minus your international flights) is booked for you by the agency. It's amazing! Planning our first trip to Africa for a group of 6 people was a bit overwhelming. With so many tour groups out there, and so many options, it was hard to know where to start, or whether we were going in the right direction once we did start.

From my very first contact with Yellow Zebra, I felt comfortable that we had made the right choice. They were very easy to talk to, and didn't try to "push" us in any particular direction or try to "up-sell" us during any point in the process. Rather, they listened closely to what we wanted to do and made suggestions that specifically aligned with those desires. Furthermore, when we asked for their advice, which was often, they gave us excellent guidance that really helped in the decision-making process.

Throughout the process, we had a number of significant changes in plans, and innumerable questions, but YZ just kept working with us to make sure the plan was coming together to achieve our goals. Their responsiveness to our questions was particularly impressive. Even with being in significantly different time zones, we never waited more than 24 hours to get answers to our questions, and the answers were always insightful and complete.

By the time our trip was ready to start, we were all very confident in the plan and knew exactly what would be happening on each and every day. They were even able to accommodate our last-minute request for a balloon ride, which was definitely one of many highlights of the trip.

Even with all the planning, we could not believe how smoothly the trip went, from beginning to end. There was never a question of where we should be, or how we would get there. And once we did get to each destination, everything was exactly as YZ had described. The accommodations were outstanding in every regard, and the planned activities went off without a hitch, allowing us to focus on thoroughly enjoying the trip of a lifetime, and not thinking about anything else. Even as smoothly as everything went, it was still reassuring to know that we could contact Sebastian or YZ at any time, should there be an issue.

We posted highlights of our adventure every couple of days on Facebook and have had a number of people ask how we planned such an amazing trip because now they want to go too. We were happy to tell them that it was through Yellow Zebra. Here is just one of the many comments that someone made in response to our final Facebook posting: "Thank you for taking us all on an experience of a lifetime. I've known people who have taken a safari, but nothing like what you all experienced." That pretty much says it all!

We 120% recommend booking your safari adventure with Yellow Zebra! My husband and I, first timers to Africa, didn't know where to start for this trip. We had our first intro call with Yellow Zebra and they asked lots of questions to understand the type of safari experience (and budget) we wanted. They recommended Zimbabwe for the walking safari options, lower cost then Botswana and we wanted to go to Victoria Falls. We were able to tweak the itinerary and add in activities where we wanted. We ended with a 100% custom itinerary that also accounted for our budget restraints (which we both appreciated). After booking we mostly worked with Diana. We were able to email over any questions we had and received back the answers very quickly. About a week before the trip, you had a phone call to go over the trip day by day and to ask more questions. This was a great chance to better understand timing and each day's flow. Diana took her time with us each step of the way, was very knowledgeable from her own experiences, and answered all our questions. Once on the safari we had a local contact, that Yellow Zebra connected us with, if we needed them. Luckily we didn't really need them. One transfer to an activity was about 30mins late. We whatsapped our contact and they responded immediately that they were looking into the issue. (The driver went to the other hotel on premise and came to get us shortly). We had a great experience with Yellow Zebra all the way from our first call to booking and on our safari. We would highly recommend to anyone interested in a safari to book with Yellow Zebra.

Some details about us and the trip. We are in our low 30s and are very active. We started talking to Yellow Zebra In January, booked in March and went on our safari in mid-June (yes we only booked 4 months before we traveled). We went to Victoria Falls for 4 nights, staying at Ursula's Homestead. Ursula's Homestead was a great way to start the trip in comfort and experience the wildlife at a little bit of a distance. Ursula's Homestead faces a reserve that's lower than the hotel grounds, so you are separated from the animals by a wall. The reserve had great animal viewing, we saw elands, kudu, giraffes, zebra, a rhino came by twice which we were told was rare and elephants at night.
In Victoria Falls we did the Zambezi Explorer Sunset Cruise, Wilderness Zimbabwe Elephant Encounter, Rhino Drive at Stanley & Livingstone and a tour of the falls. If you want a close encounter to elephants, we recommend the elephant encounter. The elephants are use to being around people so you can get really close to them. Near the end you get to feed the elephants which was a cool experience.

Then we went to Hwange Bush Camp in Hwange National Park for 3 nights. This was a rustic tented camp. It was a canvas tent and we had a full sized bed, electricity and bathroom in the tent. This location has bucket showers, so you get hot water to shower with, but it's only a few minutes worth of water. The staff was amazing and we had fabulous guides, Spike and Sean. We did multiple walking safaris, even tracked lions on foot. We also really enjoyed this camp's food. I highly recommend this camp if you want an authentic experience and to see lots of elephants.

Lastly we went to Mana Pools and stayed at Little Vundu camp. This was also a tented safari camp, a little less rustic then Hwange. This tent was larger, had a solid door, full sized bed, attached bathroom with hot running water. Mark was our guide who was also amazing and super knowledgeable. This location was just gorgeous, situated on the Zambezi, with mountains in the background.

We have just returned from an amazing 2 week safari in Tanzania and beach break in Zanzibar. It was our first safari and I'm so pleased that, after much research, I opted to book with Yellow Zebra. The service we received from our agent, Lauren Van de Meer, was second to none. From the start to the end of our holiday, every moment was magical! We were delighted with the standard of accommodation and the exceptional service we had from all staff, whether it be from our driver/guide or any of the staff in the camps. During my stay, I was ill ( probably from the Malaria tablets) and I just want to express my gratitude to Laura for organising medication which was flown out to the Serengeti in just over 12 hours from the moment I contacted her! Thank you so much! We had a holiday of a lifetime and would not hesitate to recommend Yellow Zebra to anyone.
