We were a party of 6 - 3 couples, having a night away at one of our favourite country hotels to celebrate my birthday. As returning guests we already knew what to expect, however if it is possible the service levels were even better. The staff were very attentive, and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Dinner was excellent beautifully presented and flavourful, and all at an attractive packaged rate. Well done all thank you we will return again soon

Stayed for just one night on a dinner bed and breakfast deal staying in the main house.|Room was lovely and clean, nice bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower.|Drinks in the bar served by attentive friendly staff. Levi and Edward amongst others.|Dinner was lovely. Something on the menu for everyone in the group. Standard of food was excellent, managed to squeeze a dessert in somehow then retired to the bar for a glass of port.|Choice of rooms for dinner, all were beautiful and serving staff worked hard and were cheerful, polite and friendly.|Breakfast was equally nice, again you could choose which room to eat so for breakfast we chose the library. Staff for breakfast were super too, sadly I forgot to ask the girls names so can’t give a mention but all were terrific and well trained and friendly.|There are plenty of areas in the hotel so although full when we stayed there was plenty of places to sit and enjoy a drink in this beautiful hotel. Parking is good right infront of the hotel. I imagine the gardens would be glorious in summer. We all agreed we’d definitely be returning. Faultless and highly recommended.

Despite having given information via the email booking process of our ages ( married over 54 years) and disposition some 8 weeks prior to our 2 night stay we were allocated room 20 , up in the " gods " via 5 sets of stairs on the 2nd floor. No lifts . The room itself had head beware sloping eaves ceilings at the bedside and in the wardrobe and bathroom . An old stained carpet didn't inspire confidence .|There was no dressing table , only a table with the usual tea and coffee facilities . The TV was one of the oldest flat screens I've ever come across and wouldn't respond to any input whatsoever , even with new remote batteries ! The view from our window , obscured by blinds , was of rooves and guttering with a glimpse of sky . The bedside cabinets had huge gaps in the drawer bases and , bearing in mind we're in December the room heating was uncontrollable with the bed duvet in a plastic bag in the tiny wardrobe ! We were cold .|Then on our 1st night we went down to dinner .|Pre dinner bar drinks were unpriced and dispensed without signature or room no !||My main course chosen was " Yorkshire slow cooked pork belly " with trimmings . The trimmings were as expected but the meat , and I use the word reservably , was atrocious - warm , wet papier mache was brought to mind . My wife's turkey seemed to have been similarly prepared but was edible . Sous vide cookery is all very well if done correctly - my pork showed what happens when they get it wrong . We ate elsewhere on the second day .||On the positive side :-|The building is attractive and the location is excellent . The breakfast choice is great as is its quality . Christmas decorations were pleasant although nothing in the room .|That's about it really , a complaint about the dinner , not apparently passed on to management as expected , resulted in a £20 reduction , dinner is £45pp !!||I doubt we'll trouble them again .

What a wonderful place for an overnight stay. Booked as a Christmas present for my partner and stayed during twixmas. Room 40 (the chauffeur’s room I believe) was a delight. So spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was also lovely. I usually only take a shower, but the stand alone bath was so inviting I had to try it out. The only niggle here was that there was nowhere to put soap/shampoo etc. The massive bed was so comfy and we both slept really well. I usually struggle sleeping with new pillows but not here! We also had a fabulous meal - all three courses being delicious with plenty of choice on the menu. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who likes to get away from it all amidst beautiful surroundings. I just wish we could have stayed longer so we could have taken a walk into the countryside which is on the doorstep.

We are returning customers, having stayed at hotel several times before, but I must say this stay has been superb, the staff were really attentive and welcoming keen to ensure that they were doing everything possible to make sure our stay was memorable. Food was excellent not a large menu but beautifully presented and flavoursome. Thank you great night away for my birthday.

This is the first occasion on which I have written a review whilst staying at an hotel which I am doing because this place is quite lovely. ||My wife and I are here by default and for just one night and our experience thus far is that it is first class. Aisling at reception is incredibly helpful, the restaurant staff are highly competent and our evening meal was superb. The best fillet steak that I have had for quite some time.||Our room is well appointed, spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. The hotel grounds such as we can see them on a winters night look amazing.||We shall definitely be returning from a longer stay early in the New Year. For now my thanks to all those who have thus far taken such good care of us.||Chris Boulter

Our first to Wrea Head Hall.|We stayed for one night on a promotional dinner bed & breakfast offer which proved to be great value |The hotel is well located just outside the village of Scalby and was easy to find|There are two pubs and cafes all with an 20 min walk. There is also a cinder track in Scalby which takes you to Peasholm Park and then further on to Scarboroughs North Bay beach |The hotel is a mixture of old charm and modern facilities|Its grounds are well kept and there were lovely views from our room and the dining room|Rooms are warm clean and comfortable and we slept well|Marian and his team are welcoming friendly and attentive providing excellent service. |For evening meal there was lots of choice and we thoroughly enjoyed all 3 courses. There is small casual dress code ie no shorts trainers etc but no need for a jacket and tie|Breakfast was tasty and very substantial |All in all a very enjoyable stay and will certainly stay again

Another visit to this exceptional country house hotel. The rooms are lovely, the food is out of this world and the service is brilliant. A special mention to Mike the dining room manager (I think that is his title), who goes the extra mile to make the stay extra special.
