Whether you are on the ferry to cross or for leisure, Woolwich Ferry experience is a total service with safety at the center. Access points are mobility sensitive. Either you are a pedestrian user or cyclist, there is a seat for you, and if you are just cruising along for site seeing, there is a safe area to stand and enjoy the Thames' view with the breeze. But budget 20min against 15min for the round trip.

When I arrived at the terminal, everything was clearly signposted, and the staff were welcoming and efficient with directing cars where to drive and park. The boarding process was smooth and well-organized. The ferry itself was modern, clean, and surprisingly spacious. The ferry was very fast, that we thought we didn’t even move. I definitely recommend taking this ferry.

The Woolwich Ferry is a free service that carries pedestrians, cyclists, cars, vans and lorries.
It runs between Woolwich and North Woolwich, linking the north and south circular roads, across the River Thames

When I have friends visiting London I love to take them around river and use ferry towards other side of river:)!

Arrived to Woolwich ferry south at 12:45 (20/07/2025).
According to the timetable it is supposed to run 13:00 and 13:15. Now it is 13:19 and the ferry is nowhere.
According to tfl status update the ferry is running on good service. Well, doesn’t seem like if it doesn’t keep its own timetable.

Useless timetable! Avoid this ferry if you can! Unless you have unlimited time to wait.

Not much in London is free... Rather a long walk to/from the bus stops at either end, but still a great asset to the area.
