I had an amazing beach ride whilst visiting the area. Laura my guide was very friendly and encouraging. I rode Blaze who was very forward going and certainly loved a gallop on the beach! You do need a quick assessment in the arena (walk and trot) before going out, but this is so they can check you are an advanced rider and can control the horse, but also that you have been given the right horse. I will definitely ride again if I visit the area again. I would love to paddle more in the sea when it's warmer, we did go in but this time of year is just too cold for the horses.

We would definitely recommend these stables our daughter had a beach ride and the experience was amazing and we'll organised. Thankyou so much, also for those watching make your way to the port hole cafe and onto the beach best of both worlds

We booked to ride while we was on a mid week break and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish.
The staff was brilliant as I had never ridden before and stayed by my side and gave me great instructions so I could get the best out of the experience.
The horse we had was beautiful and very placid.
Great experience all round and would seriously recommend.

Booked a 1 hour hack during my weeks holiday all I can say is this AWFUL !!
Intermediate rider who currently canters at a different stables.
firstly £50. £25 to be paid deposit. £25 on the day. I was asked to pay before I even knew which horse I was riding …. Anyway paid and got on. I have never had this policy at any equestrian centre.
The horse was beautiful and my size but the reins were completely overused and very uncomfortable to hold without gloves.
Half way through the start of the hack my horse point blank refused to walk on when asked and wouldn’t listen to my commands. This was very embarrassing and annoying as I felt I couldn’t enjoy my hack. Tired horse ? Horse not suitable for a hack ?
I then hear the instructor behind me saying to another rider ‘oh yes this is her behaviour she likes to test us, she doesn’t like going up or down hills’
Surely that means this horse isn’t suitable for a hack where we do not have time to get to know the horses?
When we started to trot the horse wouldn’t even go into a fast trot without the instructor having to make a leash to tap her bottom along.
I asked the instructor is this me am I doing something wrong ? Apparently not this is just the horses behaviour and likes to not walk on command.
The staff were so patronising and unpleasant. Any outsiders will be made to feel like there incompetent in my opinion.
Probably a good stables for young children who don’t know any different.
Worst £50 I have ever spent ‘wasted’.

My daughter, friend, and I recently travelled down to Woolacombe to go on the beach ride from Woolacombe Riding Stables which was booked to celebrate my daughters bithday; All three of us had wanted to do a beach ride for ages and I'm so glad we did this one!
We had a fantastic time from start to finish - The staff took great care in matching us to horses to suit our size and confidence, and we were able to ride briefly in the school (both to check our ability/ safety for the ride, and to check we felt comfortable with our horses)

The ride itself was fantastic!; we had
a few gallops down the beach and a paddle in the sea; our guide allowed us to ride side by side (as long as we kept close to/ behind the leader) which was brilliant fun and just what we'd hoped for.

There was then a ride back,( with a few canters too 😁) along the coastal path, and time to take a few photos.

Our guide kept us well informed at all times and we felt safe yet allowed to have fun; a real blast!

All in all a fabulous experience, and highly recommended for any experienced riders out there.

The only (very minor) issue is that the road down to the Stables is very narrow and winding and a bit bumpy in parts, but fine as long as you take it slow - it certainly wouldn't put me off returning!

Thank you to the staff involved at Woolacombe Riding Stables, and our trusty steeds, Jimmy, Lily and Blaze!

We were staying at sunnymead campsite down the road from woolacombe riding stables when we asked the owner about horse riding for our children 6 and 10 near by, the owner recommended woolacombe riding stables and so glad they did the girls had a wonderful hour and my partner even joined in and all absolutely loved it, very well run ,staff were amazing and horses were obviously very well cared for. The girls have done nothing but talk about there horse riding since and can't wait to go again. Will definitely visit here again.

My daughter and neice had a great time riding. They went off for a ride through the fields and then back for a little trot. They then got to see the ponies in the stables as well.
While they were on their ride, we were able to see the horses in the stables. And have a stroke.
Staff were friendly and there was no hanging about.
Only problem we had was finding the place; go slow and beware of the steep and narrow road.
Would highly recommend!
