Lovely setting but toilets were gross with broken door latches and toilet seat. Not enough fire pits to rent and when busy long queues for the toilet and washing facilities. Our cabin had dirty sheets and had not been cleaned properly before we stayed. They did come and change the sheets the following day. We were there a week and the playground was excellent and the fews nice, but the rest really let it down. Definitely not worth the price of the cabin. Cafe on site was really expensive too. Such a shame as it has amazing potential with a bit of investment.

What a fantastic site!!!

2 minutes from the lake, good showers, clean toilets, nice hot pot wash and fire pit hire onsite

Playground is great for keeping the kids occupied!

Would benefit from an earlier check in time though, not sure why 4 hour changeover is needed between camping pitches 🤣

Well we rented two pods. I am sure they were nice 20 years ago. One was £112 and the other £63 per night. Heavy stains on the sheets, massive spiders. The whole place was unkept and unloved. Not the best we have stayed at. Never again.

A brilliant place to stay and do water sports. The lake is big but not scary. It's well managed by the staff, they take safety very seriously. We took one SUP and hired another, my niece was sailing for the day so much fun had by all. The campsite is very casual, no stress from anyone, self check in/out everyone just gets on with minimum fuss. The toilets/showers are excellent and are cleaned regularly. Highly recommend.

Posted this for Wimbleball Lake but thought it sat well here too! ….||||Very enjoyable trip had at Wimbleball Lake & Campsite! Visited as 4 families with children 3 y/o to 14 y/o and plenty to do to enjoy a good weekend away. Very happy with the campsite, proved flexible in set up and was a friendly size without being too compact. Plenty of grass for kids to play and the toilet block was tended, clean & had plenty of hot water for showers (was particularly happy about this as read one or two concerning reviews). The cafe next door served hearty treats and we made use of the Water Activities with the Mega Sup being a lot of fun! Staff were friendly and helpful and whilst basic the changing facilities were all you needed! Even the Reservoir Water was warmer than expected. Despite the Summer rain we enjoyed a short walk to the impressive dam with proper good views! If you’re towing just be aware you’ll be driving country roads which narrow for the last 100 yds but nothing you can’t navigate! If in need of refreshment and nourishment look up ‘The Anchor’ for good food, beer garden and play area in a nice riverside location. Bravo Wimbleball. Would be happy to visit again!

Short version:||Charging us £13 per day per canoe/kayak/sup for the lake we have already paid hundreds to camp on, is horrendous greed. |Poor customer service - didn’t see a staff member for the site once during the week. |Facilities are dreadful - only four toilets for nearly 200 people. Won’t be returning or recommending. ||Long version:||It’s a shame this has to be a negative review as our previous experience here a few years ago was alright. Upon our return, we have not had such a nice experience. |Firstly, we have not seen a single member of staff. When we checked in, they said they would come and see us when we pitched up. Six days later and we haven’t seen a soul. |The campsite was at capacity when we arrived, not surprising given its high season but with only four toilets and four showers, you can imagine that this hasn’t been a great experience. When several sets of campers left on day two, we found it easier to secure a shower but they are not very well maintained and if someone turns on a tap in the toilet or washing up area then your shower runs cold (quite a shock). A bit of a freshen up and a twice daily cleaning would probably help but this was not the sort of facilities we would have expected for the cost. ||On that note, we all brought our canoes and kayaks with us but the site wanted to charge us £13 per craft, per day to use the lake where we were camping. There were no concessions for being residents and the women we spoke with just told us we should have booked in advanced when faced with pages of paperwork. When we questioned this, the receptionist said the police would be called to take us off the lake if we didn’t pay. We pointed out those people who drive to other areas and launch their craft and she said they called the police for them too. |This place has become greedy. We are not adverse to paying something for the lake use but there should be a discount if you are already camping with them. It would have cost us as a whole party an additional £700 for the week to use the lake - this is with our insurance and own equipment on top - excessive frankly.||Chatting to the locals too, it’s clear this place has a terrible reputation. Wimbleball, you have lost a lot of business from us. I do not recommend.

Location of the campsite is great. Facilities are decent. However, it sells it self as a family friendly campsite but the noise levels are ridiculous. Loud people and music well into the night. Families with no concept of volume and seemingly no care for other families who might want their kids to sleep. Despite having advertised hours the cafe was sporadically open with no rhyme or reason.
