We have used this company three times over the recent years to stay near Loch Ness. Everything has always been as described and clean and the company very easy to deal with. This year we needed to cancel our break at short notice and the company were so helpful, especially Julie, in finding someone else to take the booking which meant we got a vast majority of our booking refunded. Would absolutely recommend them and we will certainly book with them again in the future.

We booked to stay at a beautiful house at Fort Augustus recently and the whole booking process from start to finish was easy. Annoyingly I'd left a bag of dirty laundry in the cottage and hadn't realised until we were almost 5 hours into the drive home. A quick call to Wilderness Cottages and my mind was put to rest - They'd quickly contacted the property cleaners to retrieve our clothes and they were promptly returned to us. Brilliant service and I'm ever so thankful for the lengths they went to to help us! Highly recommended booking a holiday cottage through Wilderness Cottages, they are so kind and helpful and the property we stayed in (Lilybank) was beautiful.

I have recently stayed in one of your properties in Fort Augustus Scotland the Log house . The standard of the property was unacceptable, it had many issues which I have e -mailed to you . I have had no response from you to my e-mail . Reading the guest book it seems some of the issues are longstanding for 2 years !. The property itself was not up to a standard which I would of expected for the price paid , it is surely your responsibility to address the issues raised , inspect your properties and satisfy the customer . I thank you for contacting the owner about the heating but other issues have not been addressed . My overall feeling at the moment is that I will not use Wilderness cottages again when I return to Scotland. I would be grateful for a response from you . As I stated in my e-mail I do have images that I can forward to you as evidence of my grievance.

It was the third time now we've booked a cottage with Wilderness Cottages and our expectations were always fully satisfied. The cottages were as described and well maintained. The contact via email was easy, fast and friendly. We have no complaints and will definitely book again.

Stayed in Breahead Steading for Christmas, what a fantastic time. The pictures do not do justice to the property, it is stunning. It is VERY well equipped with everything you could think of (probably could do with a knife sharpene๐Ÿ˜). It was beautifully decorated with a tree and the property was warm throughout our stay. The area is stunning and Ballater had everything we needed but couldn't bring with us.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY.

We had a terrible time dealing with Brian at Wilderness Cottages. We had Seascapes Cottage, Kirkcolm on the Mull of Galloway booked in March. Unfortunately, the week we booked coincided with the Covid lockdown.
We were not entitled to a refund as our booking started two days before the official lockdown kicked in, and Seascapes would not consider a re-booking even though the country had effectively shut down and there was precious little open. This was galling enough, however, to compound matters Brian at Wilderness Cottages did not respond to any of the emails we sent him from March to June enquiring about a possible re-booking and never acted on our numerous phone calls to him despite his promises to call us back regards our booking. All we got from him was how busy he was. He said he was inundated with emails which he clearly wasn't acting on and even moaned to me about how busy he was with phone calls. We found him unhelpful and offhand. During our last call to him he kept saying he was just the booking agent. This may be the case, but it is not clear what purpose he serves as he won't deal with problems and complaints promptly and effectively. We wouldn't use Wilderness Cottages again and I would advise anyone to think twice about using them as they are so in-efficient and disorganised. If you do use them during this difficult time make sure you have adequate insurance and infinite patience.

We rented Don Cottage from Wilderness. Sadly, my complaint to Wilderness was completely ignored (and I gave them three weeks to reply).

On first entering the cottage, all looked ok. But when trying to use the washing machine, my wife found mould in both drawer and drum itself. She cleaned it as we had spent 3 days getting to the property and had plenty of washing. Next was the shower, both the non-slip mat and the shower head had mould on them. I understand that the owners cannot possibly check everything so we cleaned them and hoped to enjoy the rest of our stay.

But as the week went on, we found other issues that all added up to make us feel very disappointed in the property. We rent a property every year for a holiday (and we have from Wilderness Cottages in the past as well).

Pans dirty
No CO alarm (so could not use the open fire)
No oven glove
Drawers filthy
Shower bracket faulty (shower head continually fell down).
Clothes airer broken

And finally on the night before we left, I cleaned the carpets and moved onto the kitchen. I could not find a bucket anywhere, so had to use the sink only to find that the mop was broken as well.

I understand that the pans issue is due to the previous occupants, but the rest of the problems are down to the owners. And as I said, this is the first time I've ever found the need to complain about a holiday home.

Our stay at Seascape was perfect , warm comfortable and thoughtfully equipped, The views from the window were amazing, a walk up the hill revealed some astonishing sunsets don,t miss out on these . Roe deer were visitors to the front door and seals in the bay every night, plenty of wildlife to keep you occupied and lovely walks along the coast, Chas was there to greet us but never intrusive but a mine of information if you needed him a perfect gentleman. We don,t often visit the same place twice but will certainly return to Seascape for an escape from the mad world Many thanks for the use of your lovely cottage
