Visitors have praised the great beach, the quieter atmosphere compared to Margate, and the proximity to amenities like pubs, shops, and restaurants. The location near Westgate station and the abundance of fish and chip shops are also highlighted as advantages.

Some reviewers have noted that the area can get busy on weekends, but the variety of cafes and restaurants, as well as the availability of sunloungers and blankets, make it a great spot for families and sun-seekers.

Overall, West Bay -oyster appears to be a popular destination for those looking for a relaxing beach experience with easy access to amenities.

Great beach, far quieter than Margate with a nice pub, loos and shops within walking distance.
Westgate station is also very near and there are plenty of fish and chip places around!

It is a great place to visit, it is very busy over the weekend. Lots of cafes and restaurants , lots of places to bring a towel / blanket and sit on the sand 😀. You can bring your sunlounger

A little gem of a beach! We thoroughly enjoyed our day there. Sand was filled with interesting shells. Water was clear and lovely and warm for swimming in.
Lifeguards and a bay inspector made it a welcome beach and the parking was free!

Easily my favourite spot along this part of the coastline! Concrete brutalist vibes mixed with the natural walls and other human influence it’s a diverse area. A shame about the unexpected dead end, but some fantastic sunsets can be witnessed here

Good for a sunday ramble (or any day for that matter!). The swan pub in the corner keeps very good ale including Gadds no.5 my fav. Its a short stroll to get into Westgate which has plenty of shops.
I prefer West bay beach as its relatively clean and its absolutely perfect for kids as the sandy bay slopes down so gently and gradually. I can stride out to sea for 1/2 mile before its deep enough to try and swim (im 6' tall so you get the picture😊). Just watch out for the tides as when it comes in, it cuts off part of the left hand side of the beach

Lovely and clean, wheelchair accessible with beach wheelchair available, toilets, littke beach shop for icecream, buckets and spades etc and the West Bay Cafe serves lovely food, good value for money and they have vegan and gluten free options available. Sandy beach, great for building sand castles and shallow sea, great for paddling and for children. Life guards on duty, swimming safe between the red and yellow flags, outside of those there are rocks on the seabed. No dogs allowed on the beach between 10am and 6pm.

First visit and so pleased we went. Gorgeous sandy beach with plenty of shells dotted around but not enough to worry about having bare feet. Had the whole beach to ourselves! The water is shallow for a long stretch when the tide is going out (it covers the beach at high tide, so check tide times to avoid disappointment). There's a cafe and shop, toilets and an outside water tap for rinsing feet and buckets. Parking was easy because it was a quiet day. Lovely views. Will definitely go back.
