Wharton Crag Local Nature Reserve is a hidden gem! The trails wind through stunning woodland and limestone landscapes, bursting with wildlife and breathtaking views. Perfect for a peaceful hike or nature spotting. The small car park fills up fast, so arrive early or park along the road where safe. Absolutely worth a visit!

Free carpark for great dog walk, others suggested it was a moderate walk, I think it's physical and sometimes demanding, but well worth the effort as the views are outstanding. A circular walk but sign posts lacking in places, and path not always clear.

Nice little place. Easy to find off the A6 through a little village. Plenty of parking and no need to pay. There are a few circular walks to do but the 2 it recommends are the short or long walk. The long one is around 3 miles. Signposted as you are walking around. Nice scenery. A bit of climbing and slippery rocks but manageable. Lovely view of bay from the top and you can see isle of man on a clear day. There are some cows that graze on the land. Not the biggest walk in the world but definitely worth a visit if your up that way. It's all dog friendly.

The most beautiful nature reserve. It is a combination of 4 nature reserves owned by environmental charities and local authorities. Lots of footpaths and routes through. Some steep climbs and the limestone rock can be very slippery when wet. Good boots are essential. Astounding views across Morecambe Bay make the climb worth the climb. As you return to the road, there are footpaths just off the road so take care to locate them. I missed a sign and completed my walk along the road. A very quiet road (did my walk on a Sunday) but still nicer to be off road if you can.

Went for a walk with a friend. She's been before and generally knew her way around. However, the path / track / route is fairly clear for almost all of the circuit.
Dispite the poor weather conditions, there were a few nice views plus interesting flora and fauna along the route.
If I return, it'll be in spring or summer.

Very little effort to get to the top for great views across Morecambe Bay to the west, Warton and Yorkshire to the east, Carnforth, Lancaster and Morecambe to the south and the Lake District to the north. Popular with dog walkers and on my recent visit, rock climbers which I thought were banned but they looked like they knew what they were doing! Gentle circular walk with a little rock clambering 90mins. Decent footwear recommended!

Beautiful and beautifully quiet place. Great for quite time reading a book, walking the dog or for walking one of the trails. I took the summit walk over the top of the quarry. Once you reach the top the views are quite breathtaking! Would very much recommend to experienced and armature walkers alike. It's a little steep but an easy trail. Allow an hour.
