It is one of the best ever tourist information centres that I have ever been to (and I have visited a lot). The staff took great trouble to find out what we wanted, and were interested in - and gave us many great suggestions. So many, in fact, that we will have to book another holiday in Glasgow! I understand that this place will be closed down in 2026, I think. How short-sighted as this place helps bring business to Glasgow.

So much gratitude🙏. We started our day by seeking out this centre as we had no idea being first time visitors to Glasgow. Robbie attended to us and he would not of realised then nor ourselves how the information he shared with us would make our day a special memory for ever. Our Father was born in Scotland and from what we understood was born and lived in the Gorbals in the 1920's. Throughout planning our day, including a visit to West End being a part of it, he also mentioned that we may like to visit Mitchell Library, they may assist us with finding out more information re our Father. Wow...what unfolded was that we learnt (amongst other info) of the exact address where our Father would of lived. Tenament living but not in The Gorbals as we always thought but in Plantation St Govan. We would sincerely like to thank Robbie for his tremendous service, patience and the wonderful manner in which he assisted us, we will be forever grateful. Attached are photos of the old/new map of our Fathers address and my Sister and I standing there, in the 'Now' whilst experiencing a special part of 'Our Past'. Thankyou🙏

The city of Glasgow is located on the banks of the River Clyde, in West Central Scotland. Renowned for its striking architecture, contemporary art spaces, fascinating museums, and home to some of the UK’s best music venues, it’s one of the most exciting cities you’ll ever come across.

Glasgow is the most populous city in Scotland, located on the banks of the River Clyde in west central Scotland. It is the third-most-populous city in the United Kingdom and the 27th-most-populous city in Europe, and comprises 23 wards which represent the areas of the city within City of Glasgow Council. Glasgow is a leading city in Scotland for finance, shopping, industry, culture and fashion industry, and was commonly referred to as the "second city of the empire" for much of the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

In 2020, it had an estimated population as a defined locality of 632,350. More than 1,000,000 people live in the Greater Glasgow contiguous urban area, while the wider Glasgow City Region is home to more than 1,800,000 people (its defined functional urban area total was almost the same in 2020), equating to around 33% of Scotland's population; The city has one of the highest densities of any locality in Scotland at 4,023/km2. Glasgow grew from a small rural settlement close to Glasgow Cathedral and descending to the River Clyde to become the largest seaport in Scotland, and tenth largest by tonnage in Britain. Expanding from the medieval bishopric and episcopal burgh (subsequently royal burgh), and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow in the 15th century, it became a major centre of the Scottish Enlightenment in the 18th century.

Glasgow became a county in 1893, the city having previously been in the historic county of Lanarkshire, and later growing to also include settlements that were once part of Renfrewshire and Dunbartonshire. It now forms the Glasgow City Council area, one of the 32 council areas of Scotland, and is administered by Glasgow City Council. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Glasgow's population grew rapidly, reaching a peak of 1,127,825 people in 1938 (with a higher density and within a smaller territory than in subsequent decades). The population was greatly reduced following comprehensive urban renewal projects in the 1960s which resulted in large-scale relocation of people to designated new towns, such as Cumbernauld, Livingston, East Kilbride and peripheral suburbs, followed by successive boundary changes.

Glasgow's major cultural institutions enjoy international reputations including The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Burrell Collection, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera. The city was the European Capital of Culture in 1990 and is notable for its architecture, culture, media, music scene, sports clubs and transport connections. It is the fifth-most-visited city in the United Kingdom. The city is also well known in the sporting world for football, particularly for the Old Firm rivalry.

Really kind and patient staff with very useful tips for the public transport system and the are of Glasgow in general. They never made my friend and I feel stupid when we asked for directions. If you're lost or need tips definitely the place to go.

Wish I knew the guys name who helped me today, so I could give him credit!
Needed to get to KelvinGrove by bus, and he was very helpful on where to go for the bus stop and which bus to get.
He also gave me some personal recommendations for some cafés and others shops that were also in the area.
