Venture-West Boat Charters - Crinan

After six trips to Scotland my wife an I decided to finally try a boat tour. We were not disappointed. The tour to the Corryvreckan Whirlpool was gorgeous, and the views magnificent. The tidal perturbations are thrilling to see. We also saw many seals and sea birds as well. Sandy, who runs the boat, was knowledgeable and friendly. The boat is very comfortable, stable, and with great viewing. This was one of the highlights of our trip and well worth it!

What a great family day trip. We really enjoyed our Venture West trip out to spot the seals,GoldenEagles, sea birds etc.
The corryvreckan was fab, amazing to see up close.
Mia was fab, full of knowledge of the area, animals and surrounding waters. Would highly recommend the trip for all the family.

A fantastic and highly recommend boat trip. Went on the whirlpool and animal based tour and was fantastic. We got to see seals and white tailed sea eagles, as well as the whirlpool. Venture-West have ensured that all trips are currently set up to provide a safe tour during COVID-19 restrictions, and provide indoor and outdoor seating to cater for all weather conditions. The driver was extremely knowledgeable of the local area, history and animals and was always happy to answer questions. Binoculars were also provided for guests to use during the trip to help see the animals. Highly recommend.

Brilliant Trip from Crinan out past Jura and the small islands, passing through the Corryvreckan Whirlpool. Just amazing! ... the boat and staff where brilliant, making sure we knew where we were going, and always seeking out things (and wildlife) to show us! we saw loads of seals, a couple of sea eagles and a pod of porpoises. To see a standing todal wave right next to the boat was amazing! Mia was our guide and was really friendly and very knowledgable. Thoroughly recommend the trip, and Venture West - WHAT A DAY!

Superb morning going to Corryvreckan and the Grey Dog Tidal Race with Sandy. Immaculate, powerful, safe boat, can stay dry in wet conditions. Cannot understand why it was not sold out. Saw dolphins, seals, sea eagles. Great value.

Brilliant trip. Saw -and felt- the Corryvreckan, which was spectacular. And saw lots of wildlife like Sea Eagles with juvenile, seals sunbathing and even 'Viking' goats on the islands. Lastly, the crew were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Could not have asked for more.

We went out with John from Venture-West on Friday 31st July. We had an amazing trip. I cannot speak highly enough of John and Sandy, so happy to help and provide a great experience. Our kids and my non-nautical wife really enjoyed the trip, and we saw so much wildlife and spectacular scenery. You really must take a trip with them if you can - they are so helpful and can tailor the trip to what you want.

We took a trip with Venture West once before - and have wanted to repeat the experience for some time. Holidaying in the area gave us the opportunity - and it did not let us down.

Last time we had a full day trip with Sandy out to Staffa, Lunga and Iona on a gloriously sunny day when we were blessed with sightings of minke whales and hundreds of puffins, amongst other wildlife.

This time we did a shorter trip with Sandy's father in law, John; the weather wasn't so kind but we still had a lovely time. We saw three separate white tailed eagles and spotted an osprey nest. We had an exciting traverse of the Corryvreckan and skirted the shore of Jura and Scarba, enjoying good views of goats, seals and deer. John was an informative, amusing guide. The boat is very comfortable, with good seats in a covered cabin for when the weather is a little wilder...

Things it might be useful to know: bring your own food and drink. There is a very basic loo on board. If you wait till you disembark - there are no toilets in the coffee shop at Crinan but there is a public convenience above the car park by the harbour (a short drive away).

This is a stunning part of the world and a trip with Venture West lets you appreciate it from a different perspective, as well as giving the opportunity to enjoy some wonderful wildlife sightings if you are lucky.
