Was really hoping excited about canoeing the canal and viaduct. The guide was excellent. On time at the location described. Sorted us with equipment and a quick lesson and we were off. Small group format was great. Interesting facts along the route. Pace was nice. Got us back on time and had a great experience. Well worth it.

Tried the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct Canoeing and it was a fantastic experience.

Booking was straightforward and you instantly get the impression that Ty Nant Outdoors are a very professional and well run company....great communication prior to the event and simple instructions about meeting on the day (car park is a short walk from the start point).

At the start of our session Andy (our instructor) gave a briefing to explain how the session would run and answered any questions our group had. He also took time to explain and demonstrate how to get I and out of the canoe (one of our group was particularly nervous about this part).

Once we got into the canoes we found a quiet part of the canal and practiced paddling technique and learned how to manoeuvre the canoe - once again this was all really well explained and Andy took time to explain at a pace that was suitable for the different abilities of our group members.

After we'd all got used to the canoes we set off on the trip - and what a fantastic experience it was. The canals are in great condition and were easy to navigate. We started by paddling along the canal to Llangollen and then turned and headed to the Aqueduct.....at all times Andy was paddling with us in his own canoe explaining about the canal and surroundings.

Crossing the Aqueduct was fabulous....the views are stunning and if you have a phone or camera with you there are opportunities to get some stunning photos.

Once we crossed the Aqueduct we paddled along the canal for another kilometre or so before turning and retracing our route back over the Aqueduct.

The whole journey was approximately 5km and we spent around 2½ hours in the canoe. We were a group of 6 (3 males, 3 female) aged between 58 and 67 and, although being a fairly strenuous activity, we all managed to keep up a decent pace and enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience.

Definitely 5 out of 5 and would thoroughly recommend this experience with Ty Nant Outdoors.

Fantastic tour operators! Our instructor Susie was fantastic! Highlight of our trip to wales! Unlike other tour operators these guys limit the numbers per group so you get a personal experience. We went on a Friday morning in August and we were the only boat with the tour in the morning. Great experience

We had a great aqueduct canoeing trip with Grizzly. We traveled to north wales for our 10 year anniversary, specifically to canoe over the aqueduct, and unfortunately we were let down last minute by another company. Adam was lovely and very accommodating on the phone and he managed to get us booked in the next day! Despite getting absolutely soaked by the rain we had an amazing time and we are considering taking up canoeing as a new hobby! If you’re considering booking with Ty Nant then definitely go for it and don’t let the weather put you off, it’s a great trip! We will definitely be recommending you to our friends and family
