Wonderful Visit to Tullynessle Deer Farm

Today we had the pleasure of visiting Tullynessle Deer Farm and enjoyed a fantastic tour of the farm, along with an engaging and informative talk from Janet. I was genuinely impressed by the entire set-up – it’s clear how much thought and care has gone into every aspect.

Janet’s knowledge and passion for deer farming really shone through, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. We were also given the opportunity to sample some venison, which was absolutely delicious – so much so that we couldn’t resist buying some to take home!

I would highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in local farming, wildlife, or simply looking for a unique and memorable day out.

We enjoyed a lovely venison haunch for Christmas dinner, very tender and melt in the mouth, and since then have sampled the diced and minced venison, sausages and burgers all very delicious. Our first two orders were hand delivered to the door but last time we visited the farm on a weekend when the farm shop was open and enjoyed a tour where we met the deer and Janet explained the whole operation. Would highly recommend a visit and if you cant make a visit, then definitely try the venison.

We encountered adorable young deer and majestic fully grown stags, their impressive antlers just starting to make an appearance for the season. Every moment was filled with fascinating insights and captivating stories about these incredible animals and how they are farmed. Well worth a visit!
