I took part in a Treks to the Wrecks hike with Mark and Hades (the dog, expedition lead). A fantastic day climbing Pan Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons and then re routing to Fan Ddu to visit the crash site of a Spitfire. Mark and Emma were really helpful, friendly and professional and I felt in safe hands throughout the experience. Highly recommend!!

At the end of July 2022, a group of colleagues from Balfour Beatty had the pleasure of completing a 15.4km trek up Pen Y Fan in South Wales. We were expertly guided on the trek By Mark Lomas, founder of Treks to the wrecks and his trusty sheepdog, Hades. Mark and Hades were exceptional mountain guides throughout the day. Mark was very accommodating and helpful, during the trek Mark looked out for all of us and kept checking that each member of the group was managing to climb with no trouble - a sign of a true trek lead.

Mark had great knowledge of the walking route and surrounding points of interest. Mark used a bespoke route to guide us to the crash site of a spitfire where we took the opportunity to pay our respects to the lost pilot. Mark also shared his story as an ex veteran and how he continues to support others who have had a military background. Mark’s passion for the military and hiking was clear to see and made the trek unique and thoroughly enjoyable.

Mark was very friendly, engaging and professional and made the whole experience for all 12 of us a day we will never forget. We would highly recommend participating in a Trek to the Wreks in the future, whether that is for corporate networking, a team building exercise, a physical challenge, or simply to enjoy a walk in the beautiful outdoors.

Thank you Mark, Emma and Hades!

I have been on a number of walks now with Mark, Emma and hades and I have thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone of them. Very well organised with Mark being a highly qualified mountain leader who also has over 20+ years of military service behind him that allows him to operate in a safe manner at all times ensuring conditions are safe for clients. Mark is also a really great guy,I can’t recommend him and the team enough and I look forward to many more treks going forward … get in touch ..you won’t regret it. Great people ..great business..great treks

My husband and son have been on several of the Treks, led by Mark and they have never been disappointed. Mark is incredibly professional, knowledgeable, respectful and personable.

My son has ADHD, autism, depression and extreme anxiety. Mark has helped him overcome some very difficult life events and the Treks have definitely been a welcome therapy for him.

I would genuinely recommend Mark’s Treks for anyone going through a tough time or if you just wanted to do something different.

A perfect gift, for those who are difficult to buy for!

I come at this review from a slightly different and maybe unusual angle - that of the Mental Health benefits of our trip.

My friend and I chose the Night Walk to Bleaklow as it was very different to anything either of us had done before. With full instructions, kit lists and information before the trip; then on arrival, a detailed briefing including the route, what to expect, how things would change if the weather closed in, and what each of us should do in emergency, our confidence increased. We set off safe in the knowledge that Mark and Emma had taken care of everything in advance. All we had to focus on was moving our feet.

With Hades leading the way and proving to be a fantastic distraction, we walked up and down dale (mainly up it seemed) traversed streams, laughed, chatted and never once felt uncomfortable or unsafe. Mark and Emma walked at our pace, regularly checked we were OK both mentally and physically and at the site, told the story of the airmen and the crash allowing us time to lay a cross, explore the site and pay our respects.

We got back down with minds completely free of everything, just enjoying the moment, the freedom, the company and the safety. My friend actually said she was hungry rather than nauseous for the first time in weeks - a massive step as anyone with anxiety will know.

I honestly can't recommend getting out with Treks to the Wrecks enough - if you have mental health issues, even more so. Take a leap of faith. You will be taken care of, you will be safe and you will come back from your trek with a clear head and maybe even a little bit of confidence in yourself restored.

We joined Mark for the full day trek. Absolutely brilliant. Plenty of time and encouragement given where needed. His knowledge of the subject and navigational skills are fantastic. Felt totally safe. Would definitely go again.

I received a most different present from my family for fathers day namely an hike with Treks to the wrecks. I was very apprehensive due to my health especially mobility issues but thought I need a challenge and can I achieve it?
We met the owner/guide Mark Lomas at a car park near Shining Tor in Cheshire. After his safety briefings we set off to walk at my pace to the wreckage of an RAF Lightening Oxford that crashed in 1944 and during the hike Mark pointed out places of interest and his extensive wealth of knowledge regarding aircraft wrecks within the Peak District and the UK was so full of detail. Having reached the site we paused and placed some crosses of remembrance with others having already been placed. Mark was very attentive and i received regular welfare checks throughout our trip with my safety being paramount. I can certainly recommend this hike and after perusing the Treks to Wrecks website I'm looking forward to another hike in the future with such a professional guide.
Thank you Mark.

I was privileged to go with some friends on a Trek to the Wreck led by Mark. Mark’s knowledge of the local area and of the history of the mainly WW2 crash sites and above all, ensuring everyone’s safety and enjoyment made this a special day. It was a unique and moving experience, one that I would highly recommend. Thank you Mark.
