The hotel itself is in a city centre and ideally located, however there is no reception just digital keys cards meaning a limited staff presence. Subsequently there were lots of unknown people including local drunks gathered outside of the front of the hotel doing god knows what until late in to the night ….. it was unnerving at best and had I been on my own I don’t think I would have stayed. I get the impression it may be being utilised by the council for temporary housing in addition to paying guests.
The construction of the hotel is cheap and flimsy. You can hear the guests above you every time they walk across the floor and you hear every guest walking down the corridor. The rooms are extremely small, as are the bathrooms. When sat on the toilet, the sink touches your arm. The fan in the bathroom is on all the time and is very noisy in the middle of the night (sounds like an old fridge). The curtains are cheap and do not block light. Someone had stolen the batteries out of our tv remote and we could not find anyone to resolve the issue. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable and not the greatest.
I recognise this is a cheaper option but honestly I would pay the extra and stay at the Premier Inn (we had the dog with us so it wasn’t an option).
This is the third awful experience I’ve had at a Travel Lodge and it will be the last booking I ever make with them.

Hotel entrance is grim with everyone smoking right at the door. Given it's also in an hidden alleyway, it attracts more than just hotel guests.||Staff was nice but unapologetic when I raised the issue of the room having linens with hair from other guests - also present in the bathroom.||We were given another room and although the linens were clean, the bathroom still had behind the door a towel from a previous guest plus some hair on the floor. I've only noticed these in the morning so no chance to change room again.||Hotel looks recently refurbished but won't repeat my stay.

I know others have not liked this especially , but everything was fine for our visit, we had 3 rooms and everyone was fine with their rooms and visit , the view from our window was not great , we seem to get a view of air-conditioning units everywhere we go , so are used to it. The location is great and there is a carpark very close by , and it is very handy for the town centre . The staff at the bar were pleasant and welcoming , and getting food late at night was a bonus .

Dreadful old, over-used beds in use here and noisy revelers outside the windows all night until 5am. Pint of very ordinary lager £7.20! Once a good hotel now its rubbish. We are regular St Albans visitors and will look elsewhere next time.

When I arrived with my two young children there were no members of staff to talk to during check-in. The check-in machine was unable to print my room key and after finally speaking to a member of staff I was informed that there was no cot for my baby. I was told "cots are given on a first come first served basis". I requested a refund and then had to wait around 45 minutes while the supervisor was contacted all whilst I was telling the staff I needed to go and find a hotel elsewhere to put my kids to bed. A very upsetting, frustrating and disappointing experience.

Lovely City centre. Pay parking opposite hotel is £17.50 for 24 hours.|Automated hotel check in. Works fine.|Friendly bar/restaurant staff onsite.|Tiny bathroom. Room 335| Toilet squeezed right next to wall and oversized basin, for the size of this area. Not suitable for less able or older people.
