This could be one of the best places. Excellently equipped accommodation, great location. But a huge disaster with cleaning and taking care of the interior. I left my apartment much cleaner than I found it. No one asked me to do this, but I hate being in such an apartment.
Maybe you need to change the rules or the host.

Do not stay here. There is almost zero ventilation and the building retains heat very well. Windows are sealed shut. Ventilation vent is noisy and not helpful. It does not help to cool down the room at all even when outside air is much cooler than inside.

You need two fans just to survive and it’s stuffy if they do not blow directly in your face.

The design of this building is just not good and does not prioritise student well being.

They should make new windows.

The room is thoughtfully equipped with useful amenities including an ironing machine, a small fridge, and a fan. Towels are provided in the bathroom, and there is access to a shared kitchen that is compact but adequately equipped with an electric hob, oven, and a selection of plates, cups, and utensils.

However, during my stay, the room was uncomfortably warm, and despite the fan, the high temperature made it difficult to relax. Additionally, the ventilation system was very noisy, which affected the overall comfort. Regrettably, I do not plan to return.

Avoid this place at all costs! As the other reviews have mentioned, the ventilation in this building is horrible and the windows are not able to be opened. This makes the summer months here unbearable—to the point where I’ve had trouble sleeping due to how hot the room gets.

The management here has not been at all receptive to concerns that I and other residents have shared regarding the ventilation situation in the building. When met with complaints about the unbearable heat, residents were simply advised to make use of cold towels and spend more time in the common areas. There has been no effort to address the root cause by improving the ventilation systems of the building or making the windows openable.

The lack of ventilation throughout the building also has other serious health repercussions, such as mold in the showers and overall unsafe air conditions. When I first moved in, I was immediately hit with a sore throat and constant headaches, likely due to the poor ventilation of my room, which was immediately eased upon leaving the accommodation.

Please do not make the same mistake I did in overlooking the negative reviews and booking a stay here. It’s truly not worth it.

I would strongly advise against staying at Tower Collegiate. The windows do not open and there is virtually no ventilation, creating an environment that feels both uncomfortable and unhealthy. This is a genuine health concern that should not be overlooked.

Unfortunately, management’s approach to resident concerns is dismissive—issues are either downplayed or ignored entirely. Given the high rent, there are many far better options in the area that provide a healthier living environment and more responsive support.

Your health and well-being are worth more—look elsewhere.

I’ll start off by saying that the majority of staff members are friendly and helpful. That is effectively the only redeeming quality of this place. I lived here for a year and I can honestly say it was an abhorrent experience. Predominantly due to the fact that I was living in a box room with a cupboard for a kitchen (that I shared with someone else) and had no opening windows. Or air conditioning. I had to cook in this cupboard of a flat, with no oven, no freezer and barely any counter space all while effectively cooking myself in a space with zero ventilation. The “vent” in the ceiling did absolutely nothing to provide air into the room and despite my 4 fans on full blast, I was permanently sweating and uncomfortable. I ended up developing genuine respiratory issues due to the lack of air and would often wake in the night feeling as though I was choking. I begged the staff to open the only opening window on the entire floor which was located at the end of the corridor to at least partially ventilate the room, and I was denied this basic necessity. The flat was also infested with silverfish, which was honestly the least of my issues in this utter hellscape. For £220 a week it was an absolute steal (not).

I don’t recommend booking this accommodation if you’re an international solo traveler.

The staff require proof that you are a student. I provided them with official transcripts clearly stating my degree and study period, yet their policy is to have a student ID card which has an expiry date. Unfortunately, the Canadian Universities I and my guest currently attend do not have this printed on the ID card. This posed challenges around confirming my booking, even though I’ve already paid.

Also, they are very hard to reach. They do not have a 24/7 line and there are 3 numbers listed across their websites.

These are just the issues I encountered trying to book with them. Because of these challenges, I cancelled my booking with them entirely and booked elsewhere.

Please avoid if you are a student solo traveling or want a reliable accommodation.

Similarly to other poor reviews, I would like to criticize the ventilation system. During June the room temperature was higher than outside (30 C) and it was practically impossible to fall asleep. With the windows sealed shut and the ventilation being completely useless I would highly recommend purchasing a fan or live somewhere else.
