Great pub I blundered into on my tour of Scotland. Lively is an understatement. Bumped into a guy from my home city in Ireland ( what are the odds? Lol)and we had a great night.

Just popped in for a drink as we were passing, had a local Orkney brew, played with a very strange dog, who didn't like playing fetch, staff were friendly, wasn't much atmosphere as it was Sunday, but imagine a weekend night being packed

A bit difficult to comment as we'd had a few before we arrived but the barmaid was lovely and the drinks very pleasant. The jukebox was amazing!

What a nice place to go to when you are a from somewhere else. Ace music according who serves the jukebox and meeting up with completely strangers. Went there for a pint and went away hours later, had a great chat with someone from somewhere.
Staff is very lovely and good for a talk as well.
Will come back next year.

I was really happy. We had been driving around trying to find a distillery or a pub for quite awhile, hoping to sample local whiskys, and this place was open. The bartender was willing to humor me by providing me with several shots of local whisky and honestly I was so happy.

Good atmosphere and good selection of local Orkney gins to sample. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was quiet but the atmosphere was still great. Seems to be a great place to meet locals and experience life on the Island. It's very popular with people 30+ during the week with a younger crowd tending to fill it from Friday onwards.

Friendly pub sadly badly affected during our stay by the recent arrival of Covid on the islands after weeks of no positive cases. It seems that pubs were highlighted as spreader environments which, whilst potentially the case, did not give credit to this pub manager's endeavours to keep people safe. By the way more than a week after our visit and back home safe and sound the Torvhaug gets our thumbs up
