Following the closure of tilbury to gravesend ferry, we had to find an alternative route to transfer our cyclists on a CyCool London to Paris tour. Tilbury taxis were so helpful and provided 3 x 8 seater vehicles with lovely drivers. Communication was really good, the drivers arrived on time and were very personable and patient whilst we loaded the bike trailer before taking them to gravesend. Fantastic service at a competitive price. Will use on every cycling holiday now. Thank you so much.

£20.50 for a 10 minute journey, we later found out it normally costs around £12 and our return journey actually cost £11 with a different company... definitely got ripped off with these people, not recommend

I’ve been using tilbury taxis for as long as I can remember, before my grandad passed away, he used to use a taxi every week to get his shopping my grandfather seemed to know all the drivers by name and loved grabbing a taxi each week just to get away and have a chat. my brother uses them sometimes when heading to work. I myself use them when needing to go to Grays or if I have meetings and I don’t want to get on the bus. In all the time I’ve used them for the most part the taxi drivers are polite and happy to talk to you while you are getting a lift. There are times I have gotten a moody driver that has not been as talkative or seemed a little unhappy but never to the point I’ve had a problem. (We all have off days right) Cars have aways been clean and comfortable getting a lift in and as for price I think given the currently price of petrol and things it’s understandable that travelling by taxi would cost more but its not to the point I question if I’m getting a bad deal. The only real downside is sometimes getting at taxi can be hard during set times (school runs) and waiting times can be long but that is more due to demand and has little to do with the service. Overall, I am really pleased with the service I get when using tilbury taxis. I will happily continue to use them going forward.

Used company to get to cruise terminal at Tilbury from a local address in Grays where we had paid for parking. Dispatcher said half an hour but it took an hour for the taxi to arrive, then they didn't use a meter, just charged us an extortionate price for quite a short journey. We hadn't even been given a price but driver had it written down as agreed set price from dispatcher. Driver said that the office always tell customers a shorter time to keep the trade. Obviously they just fleece all the non local cruise passengers. Don't get caught out like we did. On the way home we used a different company at the dock and it was only just over half the price for the same journey!

You can't order a car to pick you up at a particular time, the cars don't take EFT payments and the drivers don't carry much change. They also get annoyed if you don't have closer to the exact money.

If you're lucky you might get the driver I had this morning who complained that he had no change (at the start of the shift), thought it was ridiculous to accept card payments and then proceded to tell me how when he picks up "a black" they'd only ever have large notes but"the whites" were ok and more understanding. Needless to say i learnt about a few more of his racial prejudices and his ignorance of the world.
