Second time we've booked a canoe hire with TheCanoeMan and it was another thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Great attention to safety and very well organised. The route from Buxton to Coltishall is labelled as 2.5 hours but we did it well under that. Just depends if you want a bit of exercise or a slow meandering paddle down some lovely stretches of the river. Didn't manage to see an otter but did see kingfishers. Recommended for an afternoon (or morning) activity.

Great day out - very peaceful, lots of wildlife and scenery. Equipment was in great condition and the service and communication from CanoeMan is excellent. Buxton is self-service, but the video sent on booking is so comprehensive and simple to understand that we were in and away in no time and stopped whenever we wanted to stretch our legs. Jnr and I are going to try other CanoeMan launches now and experience other stretches of rivers! Superb!

What a great day we have had canoeing from Bure Valley. The scenery was beautiful and the whole experience of collecting and returning the canoes was so easy.
Would recommend a full 6 hours as it allows a real leisurely time to enjoy the river and take a slow lunch and time to enjoy the weirs.

Just spent a wonderful day with Aaron paddling from Buxton to the wood - learning how to start a fire and archery. Grandchildren throughly enjoyed it and are now totally exhausted. Great company and fun. Thoroughly recommend for a great day out.

Do watch the video as instructed. This is self service. But everything is there and ready to take out on the river. If you porter the canoe twice (four times including the return), you can fill a day with canoeing. Very nice river for easy canoeing.

It took some time to find exactly where the canoes were as the marker on google maps was nowhere near the site and the second email from canoe man went straight to junk mail.Was impossible to get through to anyone for help to be honest.
My partner and I hadn’t been in a kayak before and she struggled to get in hers and fell in the water! This ruined her day and although this blame isn’t on canoe man if someone was maybe there at the launch point to help people familiarise with the equipment and basics it wouldn’t have happened
Felt it was a disconnected service although the trip itself was nice and scenic and my 6 yr old enjoyed it
My advice is double check your junk mail for the additional help we missed as you more than likely won’t get through to anyone for help

Beautiful river, great service. Should have taken a picnic as there is a great place to have one and no pub on the river to use. Is a bit of a walk from the car park to the river (10-15mins) so do factor that in as per your timing etc

Terrific kayaking route from countryside launch site. Ours was a self-launching site, so do watch the video they sent. Launching was easy.
