Step back into another in this small yet appropriately sized museum that combines the James Herriot stories and the story of the Vet and author Alf Wight with a veterinary museum all under the same roof (so as to speak). Well worth a visit, there is an ample gift store attached to the museum. I would allow at least 90 minutes to do the exhibitions and the film justice.

Very interesting, great back story to the TV programme and film. Lays open the full story the real characters on which the book were based. Recommended.

We were in Thirsk and my wife loves the TV programme"All creatures great and small", so we had to visit the World of James Herriot while we were there. The house is a lot larger than it looks from the outside and they have kept the rooms as near as possible as they could to the original layout and equipment as they were when it was a veterinary practice. There's also a number of rooms with displays and film shows. Very interesting and enjoyable.

It is a great place to celebrate All Creatures Great and Small. A look into the days of yesteryear. There are some really old school furniture and utensals and plenty of things to read about how the series was made. There are a couple of films to watch regarding the real James Herriott. The museum is also a museum to the vetinery service over the years and how it has developed to what it is now. If you watched All Creatures Great and Small back in the day, this place is really worth a visit 👍

A great little museum dedicated to the life of Alf Wight who was the author of the James Herriot books that got made in to films & several tv series.
The house is set up showing the rooms as they would’ve been used & a studio area with sets from the tv show. Upstairs there’s an educational area with games - meant for children but I enjoyed them! & an area for the latest series of All Creatures Great & Small.

All Creatures Great and Small is one of my favourite series hence the reason why I really enjoyed going around the exhibit. It feels surreal to be in the house and see how they lived. Really worth to go if you are a fan. The Yorkshire Vet exhibit is also a good addition. My favourite part was the kitchen lots of cool gadgets which I believe very innovative during those days. I also enjoyed looking at the old cupboard favourites and what their packaging looks like during that period.
