My husband bought me a spa morning and afternoon tea for my birthday. I was so looking forward to a lovely relaxing treat but the spa was a complete let down. We had to change our original booking as the jacuzzi wasn't working. |The spa is tiny. Literally a jacuzzi with views into the river and a steam room and sauna.|The jacuzzi was so grubby around the outside tiles, the sauna you couldn't control the temperature and the 2 showers in the spa bit were so dirty and missing parts or just full of limescale. Some of the relaxing chairs around the room were broken. There were no refreshments avaliable. Now for the cost of the spa I expected so much more. |I certainly won't be coming back here. |You need to seriously invest money into bringing it up to standard. |The afternoon tea however, which was next door in the hotel was amazing. Totally worth it. |A morning of 2 halves.

This is a really lovely hotel in a fabulous location. I travelled with my little dog and she was welcomed as warmly as I was, with treats, a bowl and lots of pats. The hotel is really close to everything I wanted, a lovely big park, the river, great pubs, shops and famous sights. My room was upgraded free and was lovely and comfortable. The doorman was especially helpful when I had to leave. An all-round enjoyable experience and I intend to stay there again when I return to beautiful Cambridge.

Very conveniently-located new-build hotel very close to St John's College. Rooms are well-furnished and rational in size and layout. There is a wonderful top floor restaurant with views over the city--a great place to eat breakfast. Above it is a roof terrace for evening drinks: probably the best view of Cambridge available. The staff are energetic and helpful. A very good place to stay.

We stayed for 2 nights- fantastic location with valet parking, and a very warm welcome at reception. The bold and stylish decor entices you to the beautifully designed rooms with comfortable beds and all you need.|Varsity is so close to the river, punting, shops, restaurants and bars. A great wine bar is just around the corner. The colleges are all close - a guided tour was a highlight. In-house bar and restaurants are very good,with stunning views; roof terrace even better. 250 plus cocktails and the barman new them all , no menu required- he was top drawer, very entertaining- highly recommended. I would definitely recommend The Varsity Hotel- good value, even better quality which is just perfect. A big thank you to all the team at Varsity

The Varsity Hotel and Spa was the perfect choice for my stay in Cambridge. The staff were very friendly, and it is in the perfect location. It is right by the Cam river and just an eight minute walk from Cambridge Market. My room and bedroom were very spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was well stocked as was the tea and coffee station.

Lovely hotel. Friendly staff, comfortable room, and fantastic bistro and roof top bar. Location is exceptional - right by the river and Jesus Green but away from the busiest part of the town centre though only a short walk. Top class gym and spa too

Sadly, the tablet in the room did not work, which otherwise would have been quite useful. HOWEVER, this slight glitch was more than counterbalanced by the excellent service we got in reception and the Six restaurant at breakfast.
We had arrived early, but reception looked after out luggage and until it was time to check in. Their valet parking was quick and efficient. Breakfast was tasty and filling, with attentive and efficient service. The location is stunning, crowned by the views form the rooftop bar (bring a hat and sunglasses if its sunny though!).

Had the loveliest stay at The Varsity - we visited for my birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make the experience special. Beautiful room, and an excellent location right in the heart of Cambridge. We also loved having access to the spa, perfect for relaxing after a day of walking! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the city centre..
