On the Cask Marque Ale Trail, an assurance that the ale will be in prime condition. (it is worth a visit if only for that) The staff knew little about this, but they know a lot more now.

But, as it happens, the pub has many other aspects in its favour. A well-appointed outdoor seating area to the front of building within a neatly kept floral area becomes a pleasant sun trap for most of the day.

Although not tasted by this reviewer on this visit, the food being presented to others looked very appetising indeed.

For those interested in history, the pub dates back to 1874, a scrolled picture opposite the bar going into more detail.

Amiable serving staff makes the visit a pleasant visit for the passing patron.

Went here as it was listed as Dog friendly. Couldn’t have been a nicer pub. Ate outside in the beer garden as weather was lovely.

Food portions were great. Fish and chips was more like whale and chips!! And prices very reasonable.

Staff bent over backwards for the dog bringing a bowl of water and treats.

Would definitely come back

The service was great and the pub has a nice atmosphere, however food was clearly microwaved, cold in some places and quality of food does not match prices. If price had been lower wouldn’t have been an issue - however for these prices could and have eaten at much nicer establishments. Having looked at reviews most of the high star ratings comment on food being ‘piping hot’ which we thought was a given and doesn’t equate to 5 stars for us!

Wouldn’t normally go out of my way to leave a review but I just had to. We had a lovely experience today at the Somerset wagon. The server was lovely and just didn’t stop bless her. The food was GORGEOUS. Particularly the belly of pork. My partner actually said it was the best meal he’s had out for a long time. And it was very busy with Christmas party’s yet the wait wasn’t long and the food was hot and delicious. Please visit this gem - you will not be disappointed. We can’t wait to come back for a Sunday roast!
