Had a very nice one-night stay here as a couple. It would have been excellent but for a couple of anomalies.....|Firstly the staff were very friendly - Barb in the restaurant was lovely! However...... On arrival we were told our room would be ready at 2pm for check-in, we came back at 2.50pm and it still wasn't done until 3.10pm. That's sort of ok, but in the morning there was a knock on the door at 10.38am to say we were 8 minutes past our check-out time!!! I was fuming and completely forgot to say about the late check-in!! Also, at Dinner we ordered a bottle of Prosecco. The young waitress plonked it down on the table in an ice bucket and said "enjoy". But she hadn't taken the cork out - we had to do it ourselves. Not a big deal, but shouldn't really have to do that!|Gripes over - we had a lovely room - the Minster Suite which was very nice, although slightly let down by the cheap, nasty looking coffee and dining tables. Everything else was really great apart from the fact it was boiling hot, but it's an old building so I guess AirCon is a bit tricky. They did supply a big fan.|Apart from the little things I've mentioned we enjoyed our stay, dinner was very good and the bar is pleasant, if a little bit quiet.

Have stayed here before but can see that the current owners are making do good gradual improvements. They have changed the breakfast where you had to choose the night before this is now not the case just need to let them know what time roughly. We stayed in the Minster Suite and this is new in the last couple of months and it was really great with mood lighting, modern bathroom with rain shower and standard. Has a small kitchenette with fridge. Breakfast was a good choice. The improvements are making this hotel much improved each time we go. Keep up the good work Shrubbery

We checked in late in the evening, but they waited for us. Staff were friendly and helpful. Large clean room, large bathroom/wet room. The beds are very comfortable. In the morning we could appreciate the beautiful gardens, the views and the lovely house. Breakfast was really good with a selection of cereals, juices, and cooked breakfast. Would happily recommend.

We had booked this as an end to our week in Somerset, we are so glad we did, the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we were looked after. The food was excellent and plentiful, the rooms were comfortable and more than adequate. The views from the garden are fantastic, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone if you are wanting somewhere to take a relaxing break.

I recently had an unfortunate experience with the hotel manager following my wedding. Communication quickly became unprofessional, A disagreement arose over a small remainder of the wedding payment (couple hundred pounds).

Rather than resolving the issue in a respectful and collaborative way, I received messages that I found unnecessarily confrontational and personal. This left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed.

I believe that professionalism and mutual respect are key in any working relationship, especially around such important life events. Unfortunately, this was not my experience. I was threatened with going to the police over a remaining £200. It was never disputed and I had advised I was going to pay on numerous occasions once I had been paid myself. I also explained that I had personal issues to which paying them had slipped my mind. Instead of any form of compassion I was basically branded a liar and met with hostility.

Such disappointment following what was a lovely day. So I probably wouldn’t recommend them for your wedding unless you want to be made to feel horrendous when you’re already going through a crap time.

We recently had our wedding day here!|What can we say other than WOW!||Ashley and his team could not have been more helpful and hardworking!|From the lead up to the wedding their communication was amazing, whenever i had a question i always got a quick response!||Then the day from start to finish i could not fault the venue, the rooms were spotless and the food was delicious! |Big thank you to the front of house team/bar you were all amazing and were always around when we need something!|Special thanks to barman Chris you were brilliant and kept us laughing all day!||Even the morning after we had a big breakfast with all our guests and it was amazing! Following a drink with a friend in the lovely garden with views, we had a fabulous Sunday lunch lunch. Excellent service, reasonable priced. Would be nice to to have a few more people in the know.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, ours was a vintage car meeting event so it was a group booking. Plenty of parking and we were well catered for. Rooms were nicely arranged.||Breakfast was good, food cooked to order. An improvement would be to ditch the concentrated orange juice (yuk) and have freshly squeezed, it does not cost that more, they go to the trouble to provide nice coffees but as is typical with most hotels, they cheap out on the orange juice! Makes it memorable for the wrong reason!||Evening dining was fine, portion sizes tend to be too big, so food gets wasted - better to provide a smaller size and offer second helpings - they would save money and people would eat what they wanted with less waste!
