Beautiful house, really nicely done, wonderful restaurant with very friendly and human staff. Quite good food, somewhat overpriced. Gardens are lovely but over managed, no wildlife anywhere... The gift shop was hideously overpriced, very snooty... Although the cider brewed on site was some of the best I ever had. Lovely to visit, but not sure I would go back again...

An absolute gem. Beautifully tended gardens, so well designed with rolls of water connecting the different sections. The cafes were all good and well placed. The walk to the four seasons garden and the Roman Villa and museum added a really great extra to the visit. The museum is award winning, with such up to date technology. Loved all of it.

I had very high expectations given the price tag of a stay here and its reputation and I can honestly say they were absolutely surpassed. This is hands down one of the most incredible hotels in the world and one of the most fantastic country estates in the UK. Service at both the hotel and across the wider estate is flawless. The 800 accessible acres are a feast for the senses with so much to explore and discover. You have to experience to understand how it all works and the vibe and ethos of the place. A visit to the Roman Villa is a must!||The main Hadspen House where I stayed had wonderful rooms and the grounds are stunning. The spa and pool were fantastic too. It is a very expensive hotel but it is worth it for what you get. And this won’t be my last visit or stay. ||A shout out to some staff members in particular: Samuel in Hadspen House, Anton (driver / guide), Tom (bee expert), Meg (spa) and Ollie (hotel host). ||Thank you Newt for a fantastic mini break.

Beautiful gardens and reconstructed Roman villa, presented in a really understandable way. I think I got a better understanding of the Romans in a couple of hours than I had gained in a lifetime.
The gardens are immaculate, and kept so by a veritable swarm of staff, who are all more than happy to discuss what they're doing and why.
We spent the day here and still hadn't seen it all.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We stayed for two nights for my husbands 60th birthday. He is dairy intolerant (cows milk) and one of the main reasons for choosing the Newt was its claims that the mozzarella and gouda and yoghurt etc were made with buffalo milk across all their restaurants. This would be a ‘treat’ for him! However, during our entire stay, the mozzarella was 50% buffalo, 50% cows milk. Gouda, yoghourt were also not dairy free. He couldn’t even order basic foods like carrots and potatoes as these had been pre prepared in butter. Compared with other places/pubs where we have eaten, the Newt was not set up for someone with a dairy intolerance, quite the opposite to what we had envisioned. ||I requested a special birthday dessert for my husband on our first night in The Botanical Rooms. This did not happen but was itemised on our bill for dinner (with a zero charge). ||The spa is lovely but there were only 6 beds available for relaxing. We were standing around waiting for two to become available. Absolutely not enough for the amount of guests. ||I sent these comments to the Management two weeks ago but have had no response. ||Despite the above, The Newt is a beautiful property set on a stunning estate with so much to offer. We stayed in a Clock House room which I would highly recommend. The staff as all very friendly and very helpful.

We were gifted a membership and finally took advantage by visiting on a wonderful sunny Saturday. Every member of the team we came into contact with were so friendly and pleasant - we enjoyed only a quarter of the large estate on our visit but took in the Beezantium (a great story on the life and impact of Bees) and a walk through the deer park. We had lunch at the Garden Cafe which was truly exceptional and enjoyed the expanse and calmness of the estate - for a blisteringly hot Saturday, it wasn’t crowded at all! We’re looking forward to making the most of our year long membership!

Came for the first time for lunch at the garden cafe and cider tour . ( we did not go to the main hotel / house )
We Couldn’t really fault it , the gardens were stunning and the attention to detail was really impressive . However for those with mobility limitations it needs more attention : they need to give first timers an idea of how much walking is involved . Luckily my husband thought to bring our fold up scooter . We could not have managed without it . There is no facility to hire or borrow a scooter ( except st the Roman villa apparently )
although the place is beautiful , Some of the paths were real bone- shakers, which causes me pain .
Yes we will be back but may have to pre book a golf cart to take us to the entrance ( not available in the gardens )

The membership is really poor value for money. The gardens are nice but there is not much to see and explore, it wasn't worth the drive let alone the cost. We left feeling disappointed and a bit deflated as the brand and marketing left us expecting more. They run workshops and activities but they come at an additional cost. The highlight of our visit was the nice highchairs in the restaurant which says it all...
