An amazing place. Really enjoyed the tour of the house, which must be booked. The owner conducts the tour and explains everything with such enthusiasm and wonderful family stories. We took a lunch break in St Ives and returned for a garden exploration in the afternoon. You learn about the history of the house, the family quilts and the inspiration of the Green Knowe stories. An excellent day out.
There is a payment for the house tour, additional to the garden, currently a reduction if you are an Historic House member and sign in.

Very charming house and garden. We had a wonderful tour providing insight into the history of the house and its occupants. The patchwork quilts were a highlight as well as the learning about the different quirks of the house that clearly inspired the author Lucy Boston when writing her Green Knowe books.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would highly recommended if you get a chance.
Visits to the house must be pre-arranged via its current occupant.

A stunning and fascinating historical house with a beautiful, large garden. We visited for a number of reasons, mainly to see where the beloved Greenknowe stories were written and the place that inspired the author Lucy M Boston who lived there, and to see the extraodinary quilts that she created. We were shown around the house that is still inhabited by Diana Boston, Lucy’s daughter in law. Diana is a charming and witty guide who’s comprehensive knowledge is both informative and fascinating and you can see the love and pride that she has in the house, gardens, quilts and for Lucy herself. I had the honour of helping turn the quilts as we looked through the collection! Thank you!

Thank you so much Diana, had the most amazing day touring the beautiful house and gardens. Diana takes her time with the tour and talks in great detail about the house and her mother in law, Lucy M Boston. It's utterly thrilling to see the inspiration behind Lucy's stories.
One of the best days of my life!

Both house and garden are open daily , though entrance to the house is by tour which needs to be booked in advance. There is discount if you are historic house members. The tour by Diana (owner) is very interesting. So much history in the building , originally owned by Lucy Boston who wrote the green knowe books as well as doing the most amazing patchwork quilts (shown on the tour, but no photos allowed of them) , the gardens are beautiful and cream teas can be booked separately to take in the garden. Highly recommend a visit , a truly amazing building, history and tour.

The Manor is the most enchanting place, especially to readers of the Green Knowe books who will find it totally enchanting. Diana Boston told us so much about the house, the stories, Lucy Boston and the patchworks, it was thrilling! She made us all feel very welcome in what is, of course, her home. A dream come true! If you don’t have time for a house tour, the gardens are very beautiful too.
