This is one of my favourite places for book shopping. They have a good selection of books suitable for all age ranges. Some books have handwritten notes by staff members giving their thoughts and an overview. I find these helpful for narrowing down what I want to buy.

Their website also contains blogs that include book reviews and recommendations.

Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

The cafe does great coffee, scones, cakes, soups, and dishes of the day (e.g. open sandwiches and salad bowls). They had vegetarian and vegan options. It can get busy in the cafe at certain times so I’d recommend booking a table.

At the back of the bookshop and cafe there is a deli selling a range of food and gift items.

There is some parking, including a disabled space, but parking is limited. They also have a bike rack.

Toilets are available for customers to use.

It’s like stepping into a novel itself when you enter this bookstore/cafe. That gorgeous smell of new books hits you first but then you’re taken aback by the pretty shelving and decor of this place. A must-see if you’re around the area. The deli and housewares are such an unusual space. I only wish I had more room in my car for more purchases!

We stopped here for lunch while walking St Cuthbert's Way - staff were very friendly and welcoming despite our boots and huge backpacks, which was appreciated! Food was tasty and I admired the lovely range of books, gifts, and the adjoining deli. Definitely a lot of things I'd have happily brought had I not been starting a long hike!

Gorgeous bookshop with a great little cafe. We had a hearty lunch there but others were having tea and cake or sandwiches. There is parking for customers so it was very easy to stop there.

What a fun place, It was busy and we didn't have a reservation but managed to find places. Lots of light lunch vegetarian options - the quiche was excellent! Good, friendly service. ANd a bookshop to boot,

I miscalculated a longer run and ran out of water The lovely people of the trading company were more than happy to fill up my water bottles despite not being a customer. Shame I was in a rush. The cakes and coffees looked lovely. A great selection of books were on offered to

Great cafe and book shop serving delicious coffee and cake.
Sadly the less than cheerful attitude of the staff let it down. Just a smile even though you are busy would go far.
