The Island in Oxfordshire - Witney

A group of 21 of us (10 adults and 11 kids) stayed at The Island in July, and we had a blast. The house itself is beautiful, with everything you could possibly need for a really comfortable and enjoyable stay. There were some really nice added touches, like garden games, poncho towels for the hot tub, games console for the kids, dry robes, sleep masks for the kids etc. It also felt really spacious, despite there being so many of us. It is so chilled on the Island with plenty to keep you entertained you don't really need to leave, but if you do there are plenty of local activities and attractions that are pretty close by.
We spent a lot of time fishing from the Jetty, and the kids actually sat for hours doing this, which we couldn't believe. The donut rides from the Watersports lake next door were also a hit.
It was well worth paying for a supermarket shop to be delivered before arrival and put away for you, that way when you arrive you can have a glass of something cold waiting for you.
Adele and her team were amazing, and couldn't do enough for us. We had a small mishap with the hot-tub which required it to be drained and refilled and Adele spent most of the day coming backwards and forwards to get it sorted for us, and had it back up and running that evening. This was completely over and above what would be expected, and it was really appreciated.
I couldn't recommend a stay at The Island enough. It was peaceful, secluded, spacious, immaculate and really well thought out. A really good option for a Group holiday.

What a fabulous place. We had an amazing few days. The trip across in the boats makes it even more magical. The house is extremely well equipped with everything you need down to towelling ponchos and dryrobes and spotlessly clean and tidy. Plenty of games to keep you amused and the hot tub is super. Adele and Lynda are so helpful with even the most minor of problems. We played a legendary game of sardines! We would all love to go back.

We have just returned from 4 amazing nights at the island and wow what a place ! We went as a group of 10 adults and 4 children ranging from age 2 to 64 and we all had the best time.
The house is stunning , it is finished to a lovely standard with all the essentials you need on holiday . I have been a travel agent for 20 years so we travel a lot in the uk and abroad and I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for some real R&R in a stunning setting .
The boys loved fishing from the jetty and caught plenty during our stay whilst the ladies loved the hot tub and the kids were well entertained playing snooker / table football / ping pong and the occasion al hour on the Xbox ! Adele really has thought of everything and is a fantastic host .
Lynda who took all of our things over on the big red boat was also super friendly . We would love to return some day and wish you all the success in the world with this very well run beautiful business ! The Nicholls family and island clan xxx

We spent the weekend at the Island and it was absolutely fantastic. We didn't want to leave! Adele, Lynda and the team are nothing short of brilliant. They got back to us so quickly with every query we had, before we got there and while we were there. The house is decorated perfectly and has everything you need. They have not missed one little thing, even down to the little bags with eye masks and ear plugs for those that are sleeping in the big room with a lot of other people! This went down very well with the kids.
We took the kids to the Hardwick Watersports which is a short walk away. Again, they were brilliant and the kids enjoyed the ringos!
We will definitely be back.

Well what can I say?
Swallows and Amazons forever!!!
The weekend for my husband and friend’s 50th celebration was absolutely amazing! The house is perfect for a celebration on so many levels. It’s a stunning setting, crossing on the boats were a wonderful experience, the serenity and peacefulness of the island was a much needed retreat from the hurly burly of the modern world. The gardens are immaculate with a beautiful wild meadow, bursting with cowslips and other delights at the back of the house.
The house and garden contained wonderful spaces throughout that we chilled and sunbathed- the hot tub and bar area were great additional spaces to gather for our mixologist and dinning experiences ( all recommended by Adele- that were top notch!).
The rooms were all beautifully decorated and included all the additions that welcome a lovely retreat ( bath robes/ponchos) for use in the hot tub and outside.
The kitchen is superbly equipped, and very well appointed for all your needs….a lovely 1950s aga which enabled us to cook easily for the 16 of us. We used the front gardens tables for our breakfast on the lawn nestled in the trees with dappled sunlight- magical!
The games provided for outside were a really thoughtful addition to our experience after a few glasses of bubbles and a truly sumptuous meal, cooked from a chef that we hired ( thank you Adele!).
Lynda- the head housekeeper and captain of the boat was so friendly and full of information about the history of the island which was really interesting and informative.
Adele has been great, really timely in her contact, helpfulness and answering any queries however big or small.
I would hope to be invited back to this wonderful place again- it exceeded our expectations on all levels and helped create wonderful memories of a really special weekend of celebrations.

We spent the weekend at the Island for a joint Hen & Stag! We had the absolute BEST time! Adele, Lynda and the team were amazing..very responsive and helpful! We were really impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked-more than enough cutlery, crockery and serving platters-great for entertaining. Such a special place, thanks for hosting us:)

Hen party heaven!

We had the BEST weekend at The Island in Hardwick, Oxfordshire for a hen do with 14 of us. Gorgeous setting, beautiful house, loads of space to laugh, drink and dance like nobody was watching (because literally nobody was — it’s your own private island!).

The team were fab and made everything easy. Would 100% recommend for anyone planning a special weekend — we didn’t want to leave! 🥂🐔✨

I have just had the most amazing time with the WHOOP WHOOP gang at the idyllic island.
Adele and staff were amazing and so accommodating.. The house is full of splendour, spacious immaculately clean and comfortable
Outdoors is beautiful, especially the grand walnut tree and fabulous grounds.
We have had the most amazing time, an experience I shall never forget.
