Room was really well decorated and comfortable. It was quite loud Saturday morning with deliveries happening across the road but with a great location it’s to be expected - plus it was warm so we had the window open. The food was incredible, catered to dietary requirements and we felt it was good value for money. There were a couple of mistakes on the receipt (undercharged) which was rectified and they appreciated the honesty! Cozy feel to the bar area. Breakfast was 10/10, such a broad choice and good quality ingredients. Food and style of the place was the highlight.

We met up with two friends for lunch. We decided to go with the lunch menu, this included a starter, main course, desert and a small glass of house wine which was amazing value at around £30.00 per head!
The food was superb and the service excellent.

We spent one night in this lovely hotel. The room was extremely spacious, comfortable and very clean. The family-run hotel is managed with care and attention to detail. The hotel has recently been renovated. The service is both friendly and professional. Dinner and breakfast were tasty, with well-prepared dishes.

We loved this hotel! The room was spacious and well decorated. The bathroom was small but new and pristine. The food and drinks at the restaurant downstairs were great and breakfast was superb. And the staff was super nice! The location is good but bear in mind that it is a must to have a car to move around. We heartily recommend it!!

Table for two at 1.45 for Sunday lunch. Waitress who seated us advised they were running late on food but wouldn't be long. Restaurant very busy. 5mins and we were asked for drinks order which arrived quite quickly.with menu. 10 mins later ordering taken - 2 x.beef roast. Husband asked for med. Rare and me for rare. We waited 50 mins in.all. At some point someone put a plate with two hunks of bread and some butter on the table - home made bread. At no point did anyone come to us and apologise for the wait or ask if we were ok for drinks. At 2.50 when we had almost decided to leave food arrived. My beef was far from rare (husband's med rare ok and he enjoyed his meal). My husband called waitress over and complained - I was immediately offered a new meal I declined as I had eaten my veg. while waiting and it was gone 3 o'clock. I was brought two lovely slices of rare beef but too late then! We are local folk but sadly won't be back. Your service staff are mostly very young and generally pleasant but many desperately in need of training.

We were looking for somewhere to stop for lunch on our way back home after a few days away. We stopped in Buckden as a possible place where we came across 'The George Hotel'. We went in to Bobbie's Bar in the hotel and, as it was a nice day, we sat outside in the garden. We had a nice lunch and I went for the Croque Monsieur washed down with fresh mango juice. The staff were very friendly and efficient and we didn't have to wait long for our food. We went inside to use the facilities, which were very clean, and we had a look round and the interior decor was lovely. It had a nice vibe to it and felt very relaxed and had echoes of 'Raffles Hotel'. As we sat outside there was no issue with our dogs but we aren't sure if they are allowed inside maybe just in the bar area. There is a car park at the rear and there is on street parking in front of the hotel. If we found ourselves nearby we would happily stop here for lunch again.

This is a lovely hotel and restaurant however a few slight details do detract from a great visit, firstly the washrooms are decorated amazingly however the hand wash in a £1.49 bottle rather than a dispenser are not in keeping. The second point is the lift is out of action and staff confirmed it’s very hit and miss..

The George is a fabulous surprise! Really super decoration throughout, which is matched by very good service , both friendly and prompt.||The bedroom was large and the bed was so comfortable , we had two nights here and slept so well. Shame not to have a walk in shower which would suit the styling more and also feels safer. ||The bar is very good and the breakfast area and service were good too. One thing...they can't make porridge! But with that in mind just avoid as the rest is super.|We would certainly stay here again .
