We visited this establishment today to have a Sunday lunch. My first time being there. Very nice interior, open fire, VERY welcoming. We were the only people there at the time which was not a problem. Service was swift and attentive and not over the top like some spots are. |The menu wasn't exactly comprehensive, but that's not a bad mark, to me it means they focus on a few dishes that keep folk coming back. I will only mention my experience, I ordered soup as a starter.......delicious! Then I had roast beef with trimmings, standard fare. It was nice, but did not mirror the price they charged. What was on my plate did not equate to the price I was charged. Pretentious springs to mind. I will not dine there again.

I booked the Dalesman Country Inn for 16 people for new years day. I spoke to Mike via email and he was very accommodating, helpful and quick to respond. Food and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Staying in Sedbergh so thought we'd book a table as the food looked good on the website.
We both had a trio of lamb. The lamb is local sedbergh lamb from their own farms, so was expecting something extraordinary.
Well... the lamb fat was completely raw and chewy and quite honestly slimy and inedible. Everything was under seasoned, the lamb roast potatoes were very bland. When we told our lovely waitress she asked the chef and he said that's how it's meant to be cooked. So the manager took our plates to show the chef and he then admitted it's been cooked wrong.
We were offered our drinks for free which was one glass of wine and one beer.
I couldn't be bothered to argue our point as the food should've been discounted too. We understand that things go wrong sometimes, but it's how you deal with it that counts.
Very disappointed. Such a shame as the pub looks lovely .

From the moment we walked in, the friendly service we received was fantastic. Our lovely waiter was so helpful. My husband had steak and triple cooked chips which was delicious. I had the tempura battered haddock ( a bit too much batter for me) but enjoyed it with mushy peas and triple cooked chips. The atmosphere was so relaxing - HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/10.

Very well set up restaurant and accommodation. The food was excellent and the service friendly and efficient. The bar is very pleasant to sit at and table dining good at dinner and breakfast. We stayed at their nearby cottage, which was great as we had lots of room for a change everything was well done and I recommend staying there.

Absolutely amazing country pub! Myself and my partner went for a roast dinner and it was outstanding- the best we’ve had in a long time if not the best we’ve had. A high quality roast and with locally sourced produce too which makes it more luxurious and hence the higher price bracket but worth every penny. The staff were friendly and helpful! I made an online enquiry in the early morning and I was responded to very promptly. We will definitely be returning when we visit Sedbergh again. Most definitely worth a visit!

Spent 3 nights in Sedbergh and after eating at The Dalesman one night we decided it was a must to go back to eat again. The pub/bar is very welcoming & comfortable. The food is so, so good! The staff are lovely & Brian made us feel very welcome. The menu had been updated on our second visit & we discussed with Brian that it was a shame that the shin of beef with mustard mash was no longer on the menu, but having said that, it gave us the opportunity to try the trio of lamb which was amazing. We will definitely visit again when next in Sedbergh & will recommend it to anyone else visiting the area.
