Jamie is the best guide! I appreciated his quick response while booking. His kindness and generosity made me feel comfortable as a solo traveler. He was very knowledgeable, answering all my questions and providing recommendations. When we encountered an accident and heavy rain/fog, he seamlessly adjusted our plan. Would highly recommend a tour with Jamie if you want breathtaking views, interesting facts, good food, highland cows and an overall great time! As an added bonus, he played great music during the drive!

Mother & Son Trip to Scotland – Isle of Skye with Tartan Tours

At the end of May, my son and I took a special trip to Scotland, and one of the highlights was a private tour to the Isle of Skye with Tartan Tours. Our guide, Jamie, was fantastic—friendly, informative, and full of entertaining stories that made the journey even more enjoyable.

The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. We were surrounded by stunning landscapes—waterfalls, ancient bridges, Kilt Rock, and majestic castles. Each stop was more beautiful than the last, and Jamie’s local knowledge really brought everything to life.

It was a day filled with awe, laughter, and unforgettable views. Highly recommend Tartan Tours for anyone looking to explore Skye in a personal and memorable way!

We had seven trips with Tartan Tours over two weeks in the Highlands. Jamie, our driver was excellent: timely, informative, fun. We toured in comfort; we learned a lot; we ate some wonderful food. Jamie knew how to get in and out of the various tourist-filled venues. And he took us to some really cool places that we had not even heard about. FIVE STARS is not enough praise.

Tartan Tours arranged 3 separate private tours for our party of 6. Jamie was super accommodating and responsive throughout the booking process. During our 16 day Ireland & Scotland trip we used several touring companies for private transportation and Tartan Tours was head and shoulders above them all.
Jamie is very professional, knowledgeable and fun at the same time. He took great pains in every detail to make us feel special. He showed up in traditional Scottish attire from head to toe. His van was spotless- he details it every day. His music playlist in the background was choreographed with our surroundings, getting more dramatic and traditional as the Isle of Skye landscape appeared. He took us to a stunning cliffside overlook, pulled out six whiskey glasses and poured us each a shot of Skye whiskey.
He knows the traffic patterns and had a knack for getting us in and out of sightseeing areas while avoiding the crowds and bus traffic.
After our Skye tour he made dinner reservations for us and dropped us off at the restaurant. Then he came back after dinner to bring us back to our Airbnb 5 miles away from Fort William. Who does that?
I highly recommend Tartan Tours- there is zero chance you will be disappointed with the service you receive.

Seriously, Jamie is the best. The BEST. We spent two days with him. Day one was a trip out to the Isle of Skye. It was a long day (12 hours) and we saw so many gorgeous and amazing things (castles, waterfalls, bridges, Kilt Rock and more!). Jamie was easy to talk to and taught us a lot about the history of Scotland and the immediate area. He gave us lunch suggestions in Portree and had snacks and water for us throughout the day. We also really liked his music selection in the car 😊

Day two was a hike out to Steall Waterfall and lunch in Fort William. The hike was SO cool and we all loved it! We had to cross the wire bridge to get there! He also found us some Highland Cows! My daughter was SO happy that she got to feed them and pet them! My son couldn’t stop talking about how great the hike was. He gave us another delicious lunch suggestion (Black Isle Bar, their fire roasted pizzas were delicious).

Do not hesitate to book Jamie and Tartan Tours. Our two days together were fantastic and we will be talking about them for years to come. 💕

During our stay in the West Highlands, we took a tour of Isle of Skye with Tartan Tours. We met our guide Jamie in Fort William and hopped in his comfortable van for our day tour. The first stop was Eilean Donan Castle for some additional history about the area, and Jamie shared interesting details before this stop and throughout the day. We then ventured out to the Isle of Skye. We enjoyed some delicious fish and chips in the pretty town of Portree. It rained off and on all day, but Skye was still stunning with so many beautiful waterfalls and vistas to see. Jamie was a terrific guide, and I would highly recommend Tartan Tours if you’re visiting the west coast!
