We booked a group surf session at Traigh Mhor beach and it ended up just being my husband and I with the instructor. Hamish was a great instructor and was very kind/patient. We had such a fun time as total beginners.

If your surf lesson is at Traigh Mhor beach, we would recommend doing the Tolsta Head/Traigh Mhor walk whilst in the area. The beach is one of the best we visited!

If you fancy giving surfing a go and are lucky enough to get to Lewis/Harris, then definitely check these guys out - 100% recommend them. I did a beginners session at Seilebost beach with the wonderful Hamish - really great instructor and super encouraging and knowledgeable. The boards were brilliant and the beaches are of course wildly beautiful and fabulously empty. We had peachy perfect little waves and were up and surfing before we knew it. Thanks so much for a great experience, it was great fun! I’ll definitely be back same time next year, hurrah 🥳

Perfect introduction to surfing in beautiful Traigh Mor. Hamish met the four of us at the beach and quickly kitted us out with thick wetsuits and boots. After some basic instructions and safety information we were all on the water catching our first waves. A really enjoyable 2 hours on/in the water. And the big questions: did we get cold? No! Did we stand up? Yes, all 4, thanks to Hamish’s encouragement and positivity.
Don’t miss out on this if you are visiting Lewis and Harris.

If you are a cyclist doing the Hebridean Way, there is no better way to celebrate your accomplishments! I wasn’t quite finished riding but the team at SurfLewis went out of their way to make sure that I could surf before I went off the Islands. They picked up the phone everytime and our instructor, Hamish was super friendly and a very good teacher. Although the conditions weren’t fully on his side, he still made sure the group all had a super fun and informative lesson! 100% recommend! :))

Can't say enough positive things about Rodney and Surf Lewis. From the excellent rental to his great communication, I would highly recommend any of his services. The beaches on the west coast of Lewis are gorgeous and we were lucky to have a fairly decent 3-4ft. swell at low tide. Hit the water!

We had a great two hour session with Rodney Paddleboarding in the harbour. He’s a really nice guy and his positive approach made us all feel confident. We had a great time! Thanks Rodney!

We did the 2 hour paddle boarding for beginners.

We met our instructor, Hannah, at the carpark near a small inland lock and were given wet suits which we changed into, in a private pod.

Within no time Hannah had us in the water and front crawling/paddling around the lock on our boards. We were soon up on our knees and eventually standing.

We found Hannah to be very friendly and a great instructor.

We all had a great time and I would recommend this experience to anyone one who has ever fancied the idea of paddle boarding.
