We had a delightful day out to Trossachs yesterday with Strathmore Travel. Lovely coach, good pleasant and helpful driver. Hotel for high tea was included and service there too was great. It was our 3rd trip with Strathmore and we have had no complaints whatsoever throughout, and therefore have no hesitation in highly recommending them.

I had a great holiday with Strathmore Travel on their trip to Llandudno and Snowdon Railway leaving on Sun 11 Aug 2024. Our coach driver John, as well as being an excellent driver, passed on interesting and helpful information throughout the trip.
I found the single room in The Somerset Hotel comfortable although slightly let down by the small size of the shower room. Table service was excellent and the meals very tasty. I also found the bar to be very reasonably priced.

It was my first trip to Llandudno and found it a vibrant resort with a variety of amenities and shopping opportunities. The highlight was the trip on the train to the summit of Snowdon. The scenery throughout was beautiful and the views from the summit quite spectacular. I can strongly recommend this holiday with Strathmore Travel.

We both enjoyed the long weekend in the Hebrides, the weather was good the scenery was lovely and the accommodation was very comfortable.
Our bus arrived at about 1300 at Broxden Perth, there was no external indication that this was our bus but the driver shouted Hebrides. So our trip started.

For such a long journey, we were disappointed with the bus, I had hoped for WI-FI and a phone plug in. Also noticed there wasn’t a mirror for the driver to see down the inside of the bus.

As we had travelled down the A9 on the previous day I was disappointed to find our trip to Fort William involved retracing our steps north to Dalwhinnie then west to Fort William. (I had looked forward to the Glencoe route.)
Our driver John spoke very little, apart from introducing himself then asking if anyone was missing.

The Alexandra hotel in Fort William was comfortable and the meal was sufficient.
On the Saturday we had a short stop at Dornie, for the toilet before, pushing on to Portree for a short lunch stop.
Again John did not indulge in any commentary during the drive and I also found he was quite harsh with his braking a lot of the time causing passengers to “rock” in their seats unessecarily.
We arrived at the ferry in Uig in plenty of time and boarded without a hitch.
The crossing was good and the weather improved further.
We travelled, again without “commentary,” and arrived at our hotel in plenty of time for dinner.
Our excellent hostess, Sandra, met us and informed us of our rooms and time for dinner. Also offering to take luggage to rooms.

Breakfast was first class, we collected a packed lunch and set off
through Benbecula, S Uist onto Eriskay before boarding our ferry to Barra.
Again a smooth crossing.
Just before arriving on Barra, John was asked if we could go and see the famous airport/landing strip, a matter of a 5 minute detour, he replied in a sharp tone “ No we haven’t got time.”
On Barra we travelled around the west coast before arriving at Vatersay for a short lunch stop.
After lunch we retraced our route, including a quick detour into Castlebay, then back for the ferry.

Here we were disappointed that we had an hour to wait in the car park.
Perhaps we would have had time to visit the airport, a stop in Castlebay or a longer lunch break.

Back to the hotel without anything said from John apart from “anyone missing. “ (perhaps he could have left his driving position, walked down the bus and had a head count).

Checking out of the hotel in the morning, we bade farewell to Sandra who had been a perfect hostess, then headed back to Lochmaddie and the ferry.

In Portree we had another quick stop of about 45 minutes then headed east with a toilet stop at Dornie, arriving in Fort William in time for dinner.
In the morning my partner and I, who live in Elgin, decided to take a service bus direct to Inverness instead of continuing south to Perth.

I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting a taste of the western isles, the only draw back to us was John the driver, he could have been a lot more friendly and informative about our
near 500 miles sat on the bus.
In conclusion: this tour was too rushed to obtain the itinerary shown in the brochure.
ie had we continued to the Kilt rock falls, we would have had even less time to take a lunch.

Avoid this company at all costs !!
Cancelled a trip to Liverpool/Southport on 25th June .... 4 days prior to the actual departure date, after happily taking the final payment 1 week prior.
As of 20th July, my 76 year old mother is still awaiting a refund of £758 !
Absolutely shocking behaviour, and obviously see pensioners as an easy target for the con.

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Just been on 7 day holiday to Newquay, hotel in Newquay was a little tired and run down, food ok but table service at meal times a bit hectic, bed in room not too comfortable, pillows not the best. Hotel was Barrowfield hotel in Newquay. Stop off hotels on both in and out journeys great.Penzance excursion waste of time, Truro excursion good.
