Foo Fighters and Oasis tribute bands played last Friday at Staniland and it was an eventful night. Different food and drinks were available. A good night 😁

Dry dock experience.
I booked the uncovered dry dock at the marina at the end of August 2020. It was an easy booking process, all conducted via email, which was replied to promptly.
There were some issues with the drainage of the dock, which meant I lost a day working on my boat; however, I was kindly offered a reduced rate for the lost day. Water and electric was accessible, as well as the use of the Elsan disposal, showers, toilets and the pay per use launderette facilities. The marina has a small Chandlery shop which was handy for getting a few bits; pricing is a little high, but it’s to be expected for on site convenience. The Barge Inn is the on-site pub, which is in reasonable condition; the staff are friendly, the drinks are cheap and the food is nice too.

The marina is quite rundown, with lots of boats on blocks which should probably be in a scrap yard. Sadly, these factors make it somewhere I wouldn’t personally want to moor full time, I’ll be back for the dry dock again though.

The reason I’ve given the marina four stars instead of five, is due to the lack of communication and customer service on arrival, as well as the previously mentioned ambience of the place. However, don’t let those things put you off from visiting; I’ll be back.

A cosy marina in Thorpe village, junction 6 on M18. Very clean and tidy place. We Moore our boat there. Good facility and the Marina Office, and the Pub Restaurant Club house is in the same building. Boat building and repair workshops are there at the marina.
