A lovely girls weekend at Henmore Cottage - thank you so much to both Joanne & Tim!

The cottage was immaculately clean and provided all the settling in necessities. The garden was private which then led into a shared garden should you be staying in a number of cottages.

The surrounding area was beautiful, lots of lovely country walks with equally lovely places to eat and drink.

Would most certainly recommend for anyone looking to stay!

Stainsborough Hall was booked as guest accommodation for people attending our daughters wedding nearby . It was a return visit as it had been used for a birthday celebration last year . It is just a fantastic venue , beautifully kept , lovely countryside showcasing Derbyshire , convenient for local attractions for anyone wanting to see them and plenty to do on site for those who don't . The Hot Tub was very popular . The owners were very easy to deal with .

Extremely disappointed!
We returned to stay at Stainsborough hall cottage's due to visiting a few years ago & enjoying the welcome pack, smart cottages with everything needed to enjoy a short break with friends. However our experience this time could not be any further from the opposite of our first stay.
On arrival there was no welcome extras which we can appreciate costs may have resulted in these no longer being provided but the cottages themselves also had clearly not been very well looked after. We had no phone signal and can appreciate again the cottages are in a rural location but as we knew there would be WiFi we accepted this. Unfortunately though there was absolutely no WiFi which as business owners who even if we are away we need to be able to check in as well as also be able to plan our days whilst here was not acceptable. Several attempts were made to contact the owners to make them aware of this who replied once to say it would be looked into & then after more attempts to see if this would be rectified or offered another cottage which has WiFi no reply was given. Leaving us having to leave the cottage to drive to locations where we could connect to WiFi to enable us to carry out what we should have been able to whilst enjoying our stay in the cottage.
On our second day we also all experienced cold showers & with no one else staying we couldn’t understand how there was no water, again we ensured we made the owners aware & yet again no response, leaving us having to experience the rest our stay with no hot water.
There were even more issues I could state but unfortunately as I am now more exhausted from my stay away than feeling rested I will just be stating the main issues which as far as I am concerned are key amenities which should in these times always be available when staying in the UK unless it is stated when booking them not being available.

Unfortunately, our recent stay was a complete contrast to our previous excellent experience. This time, the holiday let was a major letdown.||Despite the listing clearly stating that WiFi was available, it did not work at any point during our stay. As we work remotely, this wasn’t just inconvenient—it directly impacted our ability to work and caused a loss of business. It also made it difficult to plan our free time. In this day and age, reliable internet is not a luxury—it’s a necessity.||To make matters worse, we had no hot water for two days. We contacted the owners multiple times and received no response at all. This lack of communication and concern was extremely disappointing.||On top of that, my wife has MS, and the absence of both WiFi and hot water could have led to serious complications. It’s unacceptable that such issues weren’t addressed, especially when health could be affected.||The property itself is also now in a noticeably poorer condition compared to our last visit, which is such a shame.||Due to the multiple issues, lack of care, and clear decline in standards, I’ll be removing my original 5-star review. Sadly, we won’t be returning—customer service was non-existent.

On the plus side there were some lovely touches with three cottage being decorated for Halloween. And the site is ideally situated for this party of the Peak District. However, it should be made clear that the beds are 2ft6 beds, not proper singles. We booked a cottage with two king beds, but got two twins instead. The cottages are tiny and the kitchens not at all well equipped. The detachable shower head didn't work and the water pressure was poor with a single boiler servicing all cottages. The games room is simply a shed with a table tennis table in which is unheated and unlit so can't be used after dark. The cottages are incredibly overpriced. We've stayed in loads of self catering properties across the UK, and stayed in much nicer places at the same time of the year for half the price in much more popular and expensive parts of the country. We won't be staying again and wouldn't recommend to others.

Unfortunately you have to give 1 Star but would have given zero for service if this was an option.

Unfortunately, it seems that our previous messages and review have not been fully understood. To clarify: there was no WiFi at all during our stay — not intermittent or patchy, but entirely non-functional. The router was not working, and none of our devices — phones or laptops — could connect to it. In fact, the only way I was able to get any connection was by standing outside another cottage entirely, which your maintenance man saw me doing I believe the issue lies with the router itself and would urge you to have it

Great place in the beautiful area. They have a play room, tennis court. Big lake near by. Plenty routes if you like to hiking.
Cottage fully equipped! Dogs friendly. We travel all the way from London and didn't regret! Owner is a great and friendly person.

Cannot recommend Stainsborough Hall enough! It’s a lovely house and fitted x17 of us very comfortably. I’ve been to a few large houses with big groups and this is by far my favourite, I will definitely come back again if I can in the future.

The setting is great. You can do a lovely country walk to Wirksworth and the hill/field views from the house are beautiful.

Joanne & Tim were really helpful, answering all my questions in the lead up to the booking and then checking in via WhatsApp during the stay. They have a very useful portal which was extremely detailed too, which helped me plan for the weekend as well
