A fabulous find. A proper little jem. The hosts were lovely and went the extra mile to make sure we had a lovely stay. It was a half way (well almost) mark for a family getaway. My partners son came down from Scotland with his daughter and we came up from Plymouth. The scenery was stunning the accommodation was perfect and comfortable. Steve (host) filled the paddling pool for Lana to play in and she had so much fun feeding the donkeys, collecting eggs and playing in the garden. The beds were soooooo comfortable for Liz and myself and of course Lana but Dan being 6ft something finds most beds too short but that’s his fault for being a giant. |All in all a fantastic little jem of a find and if we’re allowed we will be back. |Many thanks for a lovely break |Dan & Lana|Liz & Tia

Lovely cabin, it’s bigger than it looked on photos. The view from the back is amazing. Perfect for young children, she loved watching the sheep, collecting the eggs every morning, feeding the donkeys and waiting for the trains to pass. Cabin is very warm only need the heaters on for a couple of hours. Had all we needed including tea and coffee when we arrived etc. The teenagers weren’t too happy with no wifi but 4G in the area wasn’t bad.

Hubby, 5, and I had a week in ‘Manx’ at the start of August. After a very lonnnnnnng journey, we were so grateful for the warm welcome, pint of milk, and biscuits that were waiting for us! |The lodge was really cosy on the couple of days we had pouring rain, and the balcony was beautiful on the evenings of warm and brilliant sunshine. (The perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine!) |Collecting fresh eggs for breakfast, having a bunkbed, and feeding carrots to the donkeys were 5’s highlights! |The washing machine was much appreciated too!!!|We had an amazing time and will hopefully be back!

We were very excited for our first trip away after lock down in July. Lovely location, beautiful views across to Scotland and the Isle of Man. We were greeted by very friendly host and they have everything you need it's like home from home. Highly recommended for chilled days in and day trip trips out. We will definitely return.

As our grandparents duties had a week off with my daughter taking the children away for a week we decided to see if we could get last minute accommodation in the lakes and frankly where surprised to get a lodge on Springbank Farm at very late notice for the first week in August. At £550 for the week it seemed reasonable and with a number of good reviews on the booking site we decided to give it a go. After a dreadful 6 1/2hr. trip from Birmingham through the nightmare of roadworks called Manchester we arrived at Springbank Farm and with a friendly welcome from Carole our first impressions was of a beautiful quaint location. The lodge we chose (one of two) had double and twin bedrooms the double being on-suite, the lodge also had a separate wet room(with disability features), a kitchen/living room with terrace made up the rest of the spacious lodge. ||Generally speaking the accommodation was well laid out but is somewhat in need of a refurbishment, with furniture being slightly past its best but comfortable in a rustic way. The over all feeling was of a property slightly in need of a little more TLC and a little more attention to cleaning and preparation. Simply because we booked as a couple does not mean that the other bedroom should not be made up. However the location is fantastic overlooking a valley with St. Bees at one end and Whitehaven at the other making it a great base for exploring the Western Lakes. The website which does need updating (the what's new page does end in 2012) states that a welcoming pack will be there to greet you, sorry poor effort, every welcoming pack I have had before contained a few essentials like milk, bread, perhaps even some butter and jam etc. but this was (apart from a reasonable bag of fresh coffee) a poor show meaning we had to do a shop on the day of arrival. However breakfast the next day and for most of the week was supplemented by free free-range eggs collected a few yards from the cabin. A communal charcoal BBQ is available and for the younger ones a small playground is situated next to the lodges. ||Overall although this does fall short of a luxury break the accommodation is reasonable value for money in a wonderful part of the country and the slight niggles I have would not prevent me from returning. With a little effort, such as a good cleaner taking care of the lodges rather than the overworked owners and a slight upgrade of furniture these could be very good indeed. ||If you like the western lakes these lodges are well worth considering as the wonderful location makes up for some shortfalls.

We arrived very late after a terrible journey but Carole & Stephen were there to welcome us and even rang on our journey to check we were ok. ||||The lodge was beautiful, clean and contained everything you need. We were surrounded by donkeys, sheep, chickens and eggs available to collect each day. With a view that stretched to the coast it was idyllic.||||The weather unfortunately became stormy and wet but being able to return to a lovely lodge each evening made it so much easier.||||I would recommend these lodges as a base to travel around the western side of the lake district.

A beautiful setting, perfect and the children 4 and 8 has great freedom around the farm location plus children (grandchildren of proprietor) to play with Also a nice playground, animals to feed and enjoy and fresh eggs everyday. we came as a family using both Lodges and for a week we had a little contained special world, an experience to last a long time. The chickens and Manx sheep plus donkeys added to the chRm, and a calf was born day we arrived 😊

Had the most lovely stay at a weekend in one of the lovely lodges. It was cosy, stylish and felt like an Alpine break away! Great facilities, and stunning scenery. You can actually see the sea at Whitehaven and St Bees from the balcony. Really great place to stay, and I'd love to go back and have a bit of a break there again. Perfect
