We had a fantastic time learning to fish with Ian (and of course his two lovely dogs) on the River Findhorn. He had my daughter Spey casting within 30 minutes. Beautiful scenery in a part of Scotland we have never been to before.

A wonderful fishing trip to the Findhorn went by to fast!
Desipte our luggage did not arrive with us at the airport, Ian Neale got us fishing already by 10 am using his spare waders and rods!!
The water was more then low and fishing challenging! However Ian lead us to pools that held fish. Afterall Malte, First time salmon fly fishing, had two takes and more salmon coming for the fly! Memorable times shared!
Many thanks to Ian and we will come back later this year!

I highly recommend Ian as a guide. His knowledge, expertise and advice is second to none. He knows this water like the back of his hand and had me fishing the right places at the right time of day for the day's river height. I landed 2 grilse and lost another, which would otherwise have been like finding a needle in a haystack! Ian also took some superb photos and videos of me fishing, playing and releasing the fish which went above and beyond and are a brilliant memento from the 2 days. Many thanks again Ian and looking forward to returning next year!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever get the chance to fish in this amazing arena on the Altyre estate , River Findhorn, Scotland.
Today my wildest dreams came true when I caught this fresh run spring salmon which was safely released back to the river at Altyre.
I'm still buzzing and a big thank you to Ian Neale and guide Ali Foyers for giving me this opportunity.

I moved to the Highlands at the start of 2025 and had fished the Dee and the Spey hard since February 11th—without seeing a single fish. That all changed on July 25th when I spent the day with Speycaster.net and my guide, Davie. Within an hour of fishing the Altyre beat, Davie had me on a fish. His river craft and local knowledge are second to none.

The experience was outstanding from start to finish. If you're looking for a guided salmon fishing day in breathtaking surroundings, you won’t be disappointed. Huge thanks to Ian and Davie – highly recommended!

Absolutely fantastic! I can't recommend enough.
The trip was tailor made and we had Ian teaching us the basics of salmon fishing, while our son, who is a far more accomplished fisherman, was given personal instruction by Ali all day. We enjoyed it thoroughly.

Aside from the fishing, what was also incredibly impressive is the fact that Ali saved the entire trip by clearing all the trees from the road after storm Floris.

Our only wish was that we had booked a longer trip.

A great few days Fishing in a beautiful location on the Altyre beat, River Findhorn.

Booking from Ian was seamless with excellent communication.

On arrival we where met by our Ghillie Ali who offered great advice throughout our trip on set up and flies.

Ali really helped improve my casting with some guidance that was friendly and easy to follow.

The beat has a hut with facilities for team and coffee, a perfect spot overlooking the river to have a breather.

My friend and I are really looking forward to returning next year, would highly recommend.

Yes, we had a wonderful time with you, dear Ian. Your name was on our lips all day: Ian said this, Ian told a story about, Ian taught me this, Ian recommended that.... We benefited from our connection with you in innumerable ways.

Thank you for the memorable photos. I will send a few photos I took of you and Jeff, too. It is nice to look at the places we were fishing to remember how closely attuned we were to each fishing hole. Even though we didn't land a fish, we both captured many memories of jumping salmon, leaning how to cast with the Spey rod, getting to know you, and being present in such a special place in Scotland!
