Loved the South Sands Ferry experience - what better way is there to get to Salcombe Town Centre than over the water and into Salcombe Harbour?

Makes an interesting adventure to spice up your visit to Salcombe. About 20 minutes to take the trip from South Sands Beach.

A Sea Tractor waits on the beach at South Sands to take you to board the ferry (as there is no pier). The ferry boat then heads around the headland and down the Salcombe Estuary, passing some nice beaches and fantastic views.
Finally it arrives at a pier right next to Salcombe Town Centre.

Very reasonably priced for such a nice trip. Covered interior with seating if you need it too.

Got to be done! Reasonable fares for the best view of Salcombe! Even one way and walk back around the bay to your starting point it’s worth doing.

Re: Previous review about £18 for two. Not sure what they were riding but it is certainly not that price for two. More like £9.

Cost me £18 for 1 adult 1 child for 20mins. I had had a chat with the boat owner/driver/help, explaining that we only had an hour till we had to be back at the car and yet at no point was I told the fee was one way only and it wasn't advertised as such on the side of the Dock or boat. Rip off for what it is; upset me to be truthful!!!

Didn’t mind paying the £3.80 each to get over to South Sands but once we got over there it was clear that there actually nothing there other than the hotel and a beach bar. You could get a coffee in the hotel but no cake, the service was slow and wished is just gone in the beach bar. I wouldn’t recommend this £15 round trip. I would get the little water boat over to the beach opposite Salcombe where there is a lovely beach to walk along and a proper tea room

Gotta be done! It's not a boat it's a tractor. Are we driving back to Salcombe? Stop it's too deep we need a boat 🚢!
Great experience and really helpful team. Great for little kids and big kids alike!

A tad more expensive than I was expecting and not to the location we’d seen from Salcombe. This was our fault as the boat clearly stated to south sands beach. 2 adults and 2 kids £27.20 return. Just don’t expect a gorgeous white sands that you see at East Portlemouth beach, Small cove and Mill Bay.

Got the ferry yesterday and it was great! Super friendly staff (especially the chap on the tractor who we had a giggle with). Great fun and money well spent
