Tried to book a holiday at the discounted price for a week in advance which was then Dynamically priced £300 dearer when I rang as instructed. The list price had also been reduced strangely also. I was promised a call back from Jarad but never received it. N

Holiday was so good we booked again for later in the season when we got back. Very smooth operation; comfortable, spotless accommodation with beautiful views; ski in/out; good food (no problem catering for vegan diet), and lovely staff - nothing too much trouble. Very highly recommended.

I was part of a party of elderly people staying at Chalet Hotel La Foret between 5th Feb and 12th Feb.

Below are listed my complaints and observations under the following headings:

1. Chalet fire doors
2. Fire Escapes
3. Room Cleanliness
4. Room electrics
5. Food quality
6. Management attitudes

1. Chalet Fire Doors: As a regular stayer at hotels, one of the first things I always do is to plan and practice my fire escape route. Much to my dismay I found ALL the fire doors on my route one,  (nearest way out) would not close completely by themselves. In the UK this is a basic requirement, to prevent smoke filling escape routes.

I also discovered the ground floor fire door to the ski room, opens the wrong way, which, in a crush would make it impossible to open. Further more the ski room fire exit door is locked at night, requiring an escapee to turn a nob to release the locked door. Again, easy with a cool head but virtually impossible in a panic crush.

Fire escapes: These were carpeted stair wells with hanging curtains at the windows. The routes looked pretty with paintings but were full of flammables. Even worse the curtains were held back with large dangerous metal retaining hooks facing an oncoming rush.

Room Cleanliness: On arrival in our room I found tissues and sweet rappers under the bedside table, also under the bed, there were a number of dubious looking pills and sweets mixed in the accumulated detritus. Clearly the room had not been properly vacuumed for quite some time as the fluff build up is something that happens over a considerable period.

The bathroom looked tired, with broken tiles and “crud” in corners.

Room electrics: We found one plug socket broken in the room, exposing the wiring behind with the remains of the plastic wall housing on on the floor. Something the staff would have noticed if they had moved a chair. Also the lights above the sink didn’t work.

Food quality: I found the lack of choice and repetitive menu extremely poor. The portions were measly and substandard, lacking any form of imagination or flair. The basic rule seemed to be “overcook everything”

As an energetic skier I expected at least the recommended 2,500 daily calorie intake for a man. However this was sadly lacking.

An example of a “cooked” breakfast served to us twice was:

1 x 40mm diameter x 15mm thick piece of French bread  dipped in egg
with 1 plumb tomato
and 1 sausage if indeterminate origin.

Or another day

1 slice of streaky bacon
1 fried egg
1 spoon of beans

Management Attitude: On the fourth night 8 people with an average age of 70yrs + were severely and  publicly humiliated in-front of the entire restaurant for criticizing the food and wine over the previous three nights. He claimed that table four had been constantly abusing his staff. The manager did not want to know this was the first time we had sat at this table and he had got the wrong people. Apparently, afterwards he realised his mistake but failed to apologise to the people concerned.
Needless to say this was humiliating, embarrassing, and ruined the rest of our holiday. The correct course of action would be to contact the party organiser and ask that the guilty person apologise to the offended member of staff. The managers attitude was of the oldest and crudest form of bullying I have ever seen and I will never cross his threshold again.

My overall opinion of the Chalet is one of disappointment and disgust that Olympic Holidays have allowed such a poorly run and downright dangerous Chalet to continue to be listed as a holiday destination.

Noticed you only had 1 rating of 2 star from someone that couldn't be bothered to say anything.

I think Ski olympic are one of the best travel operators iv been away with. It's a small company and they want to look after their customers. We aren't just a number with these guys.

I have stayed in their Grand Planica Chalet twice. And a really good time. From start to finish their staff are friendly on the phone booking the holiday. The face you meet at the airport is the face that helps you out and looks after you for the whole week.
I'm sure i have reviewed the Chalet somewhere before so I won't go into that, I will say I have that 5 star as well.

Ski Olympics website is really easy to use and one of the best i have used to book a holiday. It even let's you choose the room you want when booking the holiday.

Their prices are good value for money and I even got upgraded into a better Chalet for no charge at all.

10 out of 10. From me
