Called in having read great reviews about the visitor centre and we weren’t disappointed .
We met Vicky the Guide in charge that day who showed us around the centre and explained how Sizewell worked . Her knowledge of the site was fantastic and she informed us she had worked there for many years . She was incredibly passionate about the facility and we learnt so much about nuclear energy but also all types of energy. The displays in the centre were great and there was a school trip there whilst we visited . In order to participate in the full tour you need to apply about two weeks in advance and the tour like the visitor centre is free . This is something we will definitely aim to do in the future .
The centre is a great facility for all ages but would certainly benefit older children undergoing science exams .

Thanks Vicky for a very informative morning

What a fantastic little place, we decided to show our children where power was generated and show them something new (as seeing wind and solar farms was getting a little boring according to my eldest) I was a little worried that we were going the wrong way and was expecting to end up with security chasing me off the site but that’s what makes every day different so, when we arrived it was very quiet so we got out of the car to check and they were open, so we then entered into the visitors centre and after 60 mins of activities with our two and talking with the staff as well as asking our own question the kids wanted to stay the night there with toilets just in the back and a classroom next to the visitors area we can see that group visits could be accommodated. Thank you to the staff for being accommodating and filling our kids heads with cool facts and telling us how the fishes were being looked after (27th Sep 2018).

A really well organised and revealing tour of the Sizewell B site, our knowledgeable and charismatic guide Hugh explained about the operation of the plant and even let us place our hands on one of the turbines. I learnt so much about how these fantastic resources are run safely, I would encourage anyone who has even a passing interest in engineering or science to go along and find out why we should be building more nuclear power plants in the UK. The tour is suitable for adults and children and takes around three hours with one hour classroom and two hours walking.

A wonderful experience with our wonderful guide Hugh. It was a fascinating few hours from the classroom to the actual tour. Hugh explained everything so it was easy to digest and understand. Sizewell is an incredible source. Thanks also to Debbie for the additional information and a nice coffee at the end. Today it was just my wife and I on the tour, which was lucky, highly recommend doing it!

Favourite bits.. Generator room (Boris has a famous picture of him touching the outer turbine) you can touch it to 😂. The bit where they filter out the fish, and also where you overlook the coast and the inlet/outlet waters pumps; from there you can see where Sizewell C will be built.

Thanks James & Anca
