This place was AMAZING. We stayed in the Barnstable property. We drove up and got the amazing view of the sea- it is breath taking! Such a beautiful view which is visible from most of the windows in the property, particularly the sun room (we enjoyed many evenings just sat here enjoying the view!). The property was spotlessly clean and came equipped with everything we needed. However, what really made our stay special was Liz and John. It’s safe to say we had a few issues (none with the property) and they really tried their very best to help us, from car problems to issues with the ferry. They gave really good advice and genuinely seemed to have our best interests at heart. Thank you so much!|For those visiting, we would really recommend Kings Cave, Holy Isle, Lamlash, definitely take a visit to the north of the island (that’s where the seals seemed to be!!) and Brodick was lovely too.. we only ate at one place- Wineport Bistro- amazing food and caters for Gluten free and Dairy free (2 of our party can vouch for that!!). The island of Arran was absolutely beautiful, and for us, Shannochie Cottages was the perfect base to visit the entire island and we would highly recommend. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much Liz and John for your hospitality!

We stayed at Kilbride cottage on Arran and had a wonderful stay. 5 stars all over and we will gladly stay theee again. Slept like a log there and all amenities supplied. We initially booked another companies cottage which was very poor, so we contacted Liz at Shannochie cottages who offered us Kilbride cottage at very short notice, the owners went out of their way to accommodate us . Can’t compliment them enough

Just got home after a weeks stay in the Barnstable cottage! Absolutely fantastic, a home from home! Stunning views, changing scenery and so peaceful. Even the beautiful cows came to visit us. This cottage was so spacious and comfortable and everything you needed was there. The ever changing views are stunning. If you want to taste heaven on Earth ARRAN is the place to be, and Shannochie cottages just top the icing on the cake. Thank you christine we loved our stay and didn’t want to leave xxxx

Wow! We stayed here in September and our first impressions of Barnstable were it's immense! There were only the 2 of us staying for a week as a special holiday for my husband's 70th. We didn't need to use upstairs at all and I've never rented a cottage so well equipped. The owner gave us a very warm greeting and we felt at home from the off. Loved it. I suppose good weather helped but if you wanted to get away from it all just take your food for a week along with your toiletries and don't sign into the net. Views are amazing. Can't recommend enough tbh. Enjoy it.

My family and I stayed at the Barnstable cottage ( I say cottage, the place is more of a mini mansion ) and it was the best holiday home we've ever spent time in! Arran itself is a magical place but Shannochie has arguably the best views. On a clear day, you'll see Ireland and when that's not possible, Alisa Craig, Pladda and Sanda sit like jewels in the sea. A view you'll just never tire of. The accommodation itself couldn't be more perfect, we cooked a big meal ( including a full roast ) every night and the kitchen had everything you could need. Comfy beds, 2 bathrooms and lovely lounges to relax in make you feel right at home. The safe fenced off garden is perfect for young ( and sometimes noisy - sorry Christine!! ) explorers. ||Despite being surrounded by acre after acre of stunning farmland, Shannochie is still close enough to the bigger villages where you'll find all the conveniences you might want. Being an avid stargazer, I've never seen skies to match - the Milky Way and Andromeda are clearly visible on a good night, I spent endless hours staring skywards. ||I really can't recommend this accommodation enough, but it's the owner that makes it the perfect place to stay. Christine is more like a friendly neighbour than your hostess, always on hand for info or anything you might need, and the shortbread, tea, coffee and milk we found awaiting us were a wonderful surprise and a lovely touch. ||In short, this place really is as good as it gets - we cannot wait to get back for our 2nd stay!

Spacious, warm and well equipped with excellent views. A short walk takes you to the shore. Within walkkng distance of the Lagg Hotel and only a few miles from Blackwaterfoot. The hosts John and Liz are welcoming and helpful. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

This is our last night of a two-week stay in Barnstable at Schannochie Cottages. ||||The cottage is spacious, well equipped and very clean. The surrounding garden is kept in immaculate condition and the position of the cottage high on a ridge overlooking the Ayrshire coast, Ailsa Craig, the north east shore of Northern Ireland, Campbelltown Loch and mile after mile of the Kintyre peninsula is quite simply spectacular! The sunroom is fabulous, particularly when the weather misbehaves as it has allowed us to enjoy this fantastic view and stunning sunsets on every night of our stay. All of the rooms have everything you would expect and there is lots of space to relax. The kitchen is large and well equipped and we have enjoyed spending time cooking great locally-sourced food from the shops at Blackwaterfoot, which is only 20 minutes away. The Arran Butcher have supplied us with fabulous meat and fish, The Old Bakehouse with fantastic artisan bread and Cameron's grocery is an Aladdin's Cave with everything we have needed to create some great meals. If Cameron's doesn't have something you need you might find it in the Harbour Shop near the butcher or in the grocer's at Pirnmill about 10 miles farther up the west coast. My strong advice would be to pick-up any bulky goods you need from the Co-op in Brodick when you get off the ferry and then use the shops in Blackwaterfoot for your regular supplies. It's probably slightly more expensive but they sell great produce, the owners and staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the money goes straight into the local economy. ||||Finally, a word for Christine and her brother, John at Shannochie. I have never met more welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts in our many stays at holiday cottages. They have found a way of always being around if you need them while allowing you to get on with enjoying your holiday. They obviously care very much about the heritage of the farm and its location and want their guests to be able to relax and enjoy their stay in this very special place. ||||We have loved this so much we have already booked to come back at the same time next year! 🙂

We've just had a week on Arran in Kilbride cottage. What a beautiful spot. Very peaceful, surrounded by countryside, and a lovely cottage with everything you need. Its clean, warm and comfortable. Fabulous garden and great views. Christine, the owner came down to greet us and is so very nice. She couldn't be more helpful. She'd even left us a tray for tea/coffee and biscuits. Highly recommended! The photo is one view from the back door.
