Just had 6 days sea kayaking paddling with a combination of James, Shaun and Ben within an Intermediate trip. Weather was very kind and forecast did not materialise as we thought it would. We paddled to/ around all of the main islands, saw puffins/ seals along the way and covered approx 120km. Trip was epic!!!! The centre kayaks we used were all high spec P&H or similar, including some composites. Set up is really cool…boats are just the other side of a small sand dune in St Mary’s. Garrison campsite worked really well…it’s a 20 min walk but broke up by visit to Coop or Butchers for fresh pasties etc. Leadership from the guys was absolutely first rate…pace was appropriate for the whole group, guidance/ general knowledge along the way was superb and safety levels were in place at all times. Super slick operation…I’ll definitely paddle with SKC again! Thanks to everyone involved….a very memorable week of paddling!

I spent a week with SKC on their explore Cornwall expedition. Id had a few years off paddling and wanted to gradually build up my skills and confidence and explore a new part of the UK, and the team delivered an excellent week. We had some excellent days exploring different parts of the coastline, making the most of days with/despite any weather conditions. Each day I was pushed a little out my comfort zone but in a controlled manner that made we want to learn and explore more. It was hard work, challenging in places but great fun and exactly what I needed to get my mojo back. Ill definitely be back!

Really great team who will take you to most appropriate locations depending on prevailing conditions and what is the defined skills that will be the focus of the day.

Not just a procession round the coast, they look to build confidence and your skillset through demonstration and experience.

I just completed 5 day Intermediate course, and there were several experienced kayakers taking part looking to improve. I felt supported and challenged throughout the trip in a variety of conditions which we had defined as a group at start of the 1st day, which is what I was looking for.

Can not recommend their courses highly enough. James and Geoff both greater leaders, and would always put themselves out to accommodate requests.

In years of visiting Cornwall and being on the sea as a youngster, I had never seen a large tuna leaping out of the water. Plenty of seals around too. Good kit & kayaks. Great course.

I spent a week with them on the Isles of Scilly. It was a fantastic utilisation of weather with plans made every day rather than on predictions. This meant that every day was maxamised with no opportunity missed. We felt safe virtually all the time with the vigilance of the guides. The one incident we did have was dealt with rapidly and clearly, so it didn't impact the trips at all. The most reassuring thing was the post incident response (after it was sorted out). A complete (and anonymous) check of the confidence of the group. That way it was highlighted that it was a laps in concentration rather than being on the edge of their capability. So, with this we could carry on with confidence.

I just completed a 5 day advanced course with SKC - mostly led by James, but also supported by Geoff. We covered lots of ground (sea?) and practiced loads of rescue techniques, incident scenarios and leadership situations. The team at SDK are excellent and I thoroughly recommend them.

Can only but recommend Sea Kayaking Cornwall. I'm sure all of the instructors are great but Geoff was superb from start to finish. We booked a bespoke course for two for the day so it was just us and an instructor. We parked at the farm where they are based and were offered tea/coffee. Started the course learning about how the weather impacts kayaking and how we would plan a trip. We then got to know our kayaks and kitted up. The kayaks, wetsuits, rash vests and jackets provided were clean and in good condition. We loaded up and set off for the beach. I'll admit I didn't find it easy to begin with but Geoff was very patient and reassuring. He balanced perfectly the different needs in the group. We were able to go in and out of the rocks, stopped for a rest and lunch on a beach. Its a long day if you're not used to that kind of exercise but would highly recommend. Geoff was very knowledgeable, experienced and made us feel safe at all times.

We have just had an amazing 2 days with Sean and Ben in the Scillies. We are relative novices (2 day course previously) but they managed to take us out for 2 amazing days where we covered a considerable distance in some more challenging conditions.
On day 1 we struck out from Hugh Town in St Mary’s, crossing to Tresco, venturing into open ocean just north of Bryher before visiting Bryher itself for lunch and Samson in the afternoon. The locations are idyllic and Sean’s leadership and judgement is excellent. He was ably assisted by the gentle calm presence of Ben throughout who picked up the stragglers (us!) and ensured our safety. They make a brilliant team.
Day 2 and winds increased to force 5. Sean wisely decided to stay close inshore around St Mary’s and we circled the entire island, seeing seals, oystercatchers and sandpipers on the way. Wind and currents strengthened in the afternoon but Sean punched through at slack tide to bring us nicely back to the beach as the waves grew.
We always felt well cared for, encouraged and safe with this really good natured team. We can’t thank them enough!

James was a fantastic instructor who tailored the course to the group based on what we each said our desired outcomes were, and the challenging weather conditions. We had a great mix of skills development when the winds were strong on day 1, staying close in the marina; followed by a longer day out putting the skills into practice on day 2 when the conditions were safe for it. Very knowledgeable, supportive, and a good laugh. Would definitely recommend.
