Paddle Board Guided Trip. Wednesday, 26 June 2024 9:30am - 1:00pm

Wanted to SUP in Dartmouth for a few years now, but never had the opportunity. I corresponded with Sophie, the Centre Manager via email a few days before, to confirm if there were any SUP sessions happening the week I was Devon.

Booking is easy via their website and they provide you with parking information, what to wear, what you need to bring with you and other information about the centre.

Our instructor, Ben, (apologies if I have got your name wrong), was excellent, friendly and very informative. After getting our boards and kit ready and a safety briefing, Ben took us through some paddle skills.

It was a perfect day for SUP, light easterly winds, sunny and warm temperatures.

As a small group, who had previous paddling experience, we paddled down through the stunning area, past Dartmouth Castle. Exploring passages between rocky outcrops and stop off at one of the small beaches for a spot of lunch. Time enough for a quick swim if wanted.

We then headed back to Dartmouth, where we ended our wonderful half day SUP adventure. De-kit our boards and able to shower and change on site.

I definitely recommend Sea Kayak Devon, and look forward to another SUP adventure in Dartmouth, when I am next on holiday down there. Maybe a full day SUP adventure, so that we can explore more of the coastline and visit beautiful hidden beaches.

Sauna not kayak, drove through snow to get there … worth it .
Fabulous, you can spend £15 in a pub and feel good for an hour or £15 in the sauna , then sea, then sauna , then spring water shower and feel good ALL day .
Charming lady running it too, easy to get changed and get pink 5 mins later

Skeg down and enjoy the ride! Oarsome experience from start to finish. A couple of playful seals even made an appearance for us whilst exploring the coves.

Top tips:
- bring bottle of water and put it in bungee on kayak
- wear shorts/activewear and sports top that will get wet even if dry. You warm up really quickly as moving about and have both supplied sea jacket and buoyancy vest on
- put phone around neck in waterproof holder that they supply so you can take pictures
- set feet pedals in right position so you don’t slouch in kayak

I love the sauna here. The staff are super friendly. Theres a cute little space behind a curtain to discreetly get changed. The sauna is clean and spacious for 4 (6 if you wanted).

You can dip in the sea or use the shower to cool off AND the water is from a borehole - so nice and refreshing to drink and wash with.

Worth a visit.

I prefer to book the whole sauna and fill it with friends but you can also just book a space and go by yourself.

Went 16/10/2023 on the Hidden Devon half day trip with my 14yr old son and we both loved it. I have been kayaking a few times but my son had not but no fear as our guide and instructor James was both knowledgeable and friendly and my son was soon off paddling away.
Due to the weather we went up the river Dart rather than out to sea and got to explore some of the wrecks just off the main river, saw several Herons that flew over us a few times, a cormorant diving into the water just in front if us as well as some seals having a snooze on a pontoon, which we kept a respectful distance from.
Paddled all the way up to Dittisham and stopped for some marshmallows over a small fire. Lovely.
James was full of interesting chat the whole time and knew the river and conditions well, so it wasn't too much hard work, but there were some fun moments when it did get choppy, which added to the adventure.
On the way back down we had a young seal who decided to follow us and play a little, which was exciting.
The team provided all the gear, even including a tassle for my glasses so I wasn't at risk of losing them. We both really enjoyed it and I would definitely do this again!

Had a fantastic trip with dave, kayaked round the headland and down the coastline. Stopped off for a few marshmallows, light bite to eat and a campfire (awesome touch!). Lucky enough to see a seal on the return and battle the tide back up the estuary. Would highly recommend! 5⭐️

I booked a full day for 2 adults and a 5 year old. The instructor Simon was absolutely great and put us at ease. My wife was a little hesitant at first, but racing down the river by the end of the day. We managed 3 beach breaks, 2 with fire and marshmallows. It was worth every penny and we’re so glad we did the full day, or the experience would have finished far too soon.
