Unbelievable setting for a fantastic castle. There is plenty left to see, and the views over the bay are worth the entrance fee on their own. If you decide to walk up from the town be prepared for a bit of a tough walk but if you don't fancy the walk there is parking by the church just down the road.the site is massive so you do need to do a bit of walking once you are in the castle. It's worth making the effort to walk the whole site as there is plenty more to see other than the main tower.I would recommend you buy a guidebook as there are a limited number of information boards, so to know what each of the builds are you do need one. If you enjoy history and don't mind a bit of walking, then Scarborough Castle is well worth a visit.

We arrived in Scarborough unaware, in a horrific display of ignorance, that there was a castle. Driving along the sea front, it looms above you. An imposing relic of former glories.

One hike up a massive hill later and we found ourselves in surrounded by dramatic ruins that capture the ferocity of the civil war, and commanding views that dominate the landscape.

The wind whips across the open ground, but it is well worth venturing out to fully appreciate the castle. Viewed from any angle, the ruins are fantastic. A small museum, covering from the bronze age to the great war, allows this beautiful gem of English history to flex its ancient sinews.

The castle's dramatic ruins perch on a rocky headland, offering breathtaking views of the sea. Salty air whips through the crumbling walls, whispering stories of centuries past. You can almost imagine archers patrolling the ramparts, scanning the horizon for invaders. It's a perfect spot for a blustery walk and a bit of historical daydreaming. Plus, the nearby town has some great fish and chips shops to satisfy your post-exploration hunger.

Scarborough Castle is one of the finest castles in the area, looked after by English Heritage.
Its history goes back 3,000 years ... every time I visit I'm bowled over by this heritage of this headland location.
The grounds, keep and walls are in good condition, and the staff are always very welcoming and knowledgeable.
I visited during one the Castle's Resident's Day, when locals can visit for free to enjoy this amazing monument.
Fabulous views with an audio tour available as your walk around the grounds.
If you love history, and love Scarborough, visiting this place is a must.

Great veiw from the Castle really enjoyed our visit, staff were super friendly and helpful. We was lucky as we had really good weather, plenty to see with loads of information about the history of the castle. Definitely worth a visit, parking is available just down from the entrance, cost was 11.50 for adult entry. This is an English Heritage site so you can be assured that it's very well kept with cafe, toilets and gift shop

Just walked up from our hotel up to Scarborough Castle lovely clifftop walk bit steep in places for some people ,but if you can do it worth while views history plus the Castle it self Ann Hatherway grave also close by all in all lovely walk & experience

We love our castles so couldn't miss an opportunity to visit this one.

You can see the place from miles away as it's located on top of a cliff overlooking the harbour.

The castle ruins isn't the biggest but the grounds it's in is a fair size and included in the price is an audio guide that gives the history.

The views from all sides are absolutely amazing both looking in land and along the coast and out to see.

Was a lovely day and wish we brought a picnic as plenty of space to sit down, and admire the view with the cool sea breeze.

There is small cafe and ice cream van at the top and it's dog friendly.
