Rudders boatyard is just amazing! We had a few drinks and a breakfast snack at the very reasonably priced onsite cafe whilst sitting watching boats being removed from the water. We were staying at the airbnb shipping container so this was a handy little treat stop where we could support the business while learning alot from talking to the boat and boatyard owners. Very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

April 2025 I attended the RYA Diesel Engine course with Nick. Absolutely great course. Nick was excellent, professional and created a perfect learning environment in both the workshops and classroom. The pace was steady, he explained things clearly and simply and there was plenty of hands-on time. A full-on and fun day, in a magical spot on the River Cleddau. I highly recommend this instructor and course.

I relocated my 20ft angling boat to Rudders just over a year ago after having berthed it and previous boats at Swansea Marina for over 20 years.

Though the journey to Rudders from my home in Bridgend takes about an hour longer than the journey to Swansea Marina, I have found that because of the availability of the "Launch & Retrieve" service over all states of the tide, that I have found that I have been able to enjoy 3+ times more use of my boat than was the case at Swansea.

Not only was I restricted by lock closures due to spring tides, fun runs, marathons and triathlons, the predominantly easterly winds made anchoring in Swansea Bay uncomfortable, if not, not worth the bother.

At Rudders, there are no locks and the shelter offered by the "Haven" means that I can get out on my boat under, virtually, all states of the weather.

In addition, I have thoroughly enjoyed boating, at 3-4kts, upstream on the Cleddau where the scenery is absolutely magnificent as is the bird life and wild life, including Otters which I have seen in broad daylight.

Finally I must give credit to the owners of the Boatyard, Nick & Sarah and the staff, particularly Jon & Aled who always ensure that my boat is launched, or being launched at the time requested.

My boating enjoyment has been re-invigorated and my move to the Haven, in general and to Rudder's Boatyard, in particular has been a huge success for me and my sincere thanks go to all concerned.

Couldn't recommend more!! Sarah is the perfect instructor for the powerboat level 2 clear, friendly and very knowledgeable. Sarah's relaxed teaching in harsh conditions has really made me feel like I can be safe out on the water. Couldn't be any more pleased, money well spent!

First time using Rudders and can highly recomend them. Nick was very helpful from first contact and both he and Jonathan were on hand all the time to help me if I needed it. The boat lift was done smoothly and professionally with no issues. Nice cuppa in the cafe as well 👍... Will definitely use them again.

Living in the Rhondda valleys, I never expected to stay overnight at an operational boatyard. It was booked for me as a 40th birthday getaway. It was fantastic. I stayed in the 'Cosy Cabin' a converted shipping container which was great in it's own unique way. Windows looking out onto the Estuary, boats moored in the water, the pontoon heading out, catching the sunrise was really nice. Fish were bobbing just beneath the pontoon so close you could catch with your hands. Ideal getaway if you want a little peace and quiet. Still had toilets and shower onsite. Would definitely visit again.

Had a fabulous time doing powerboat level 2 with Sarah. Her instruction was clear and relaxed, instilling confidence in all of us. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone doing their PB2 course to do it with Rudders.

Did the 2 Day RYA Powerboat Course with these guys, an excellent standard of instruction, hard work and a load of fun.
There is even a coffee shop, that does an exceptionally good Cappuccino !
