We remember when the older museum, cafe and little shops this was so much better kids running around with swords & bow and arrows dressed up like Robin Hood and Maid Marian. The new building and it's location in our view lost something.

On my 2nd visit in August (first was in late December), I was struck by how quiet it was. No sounds or sightings of wildlife or birds. Found this very strange. Nevertheless it is a beautiful historic place and I absolutely adore the little artisan shops filled with locally made items.

A lovely walk through Sherwood Forest along mostly easy to follow paths. This is a great walk for the whole family.

Known of course as the home of Robin Hood, Sherwood is also known for its ancient trees. one of the oldest you will come across on this walk is the Major Oak, which is estimated to be around 1,100 years old.

Fantastic place. Nice cafe and friendly staff. A good place to start a walk. We have heard stories about Robin hood, but to stand where he possibly did was amazing

What a place! Amazing place for a long and tiring dog walk or a short walk to see the Major Oak! Plenty of different paths which makes each visit a little different! Plenty of wildlife to keep an eye out for. Well sign posted, did we still get a bit lost? Yes! But hey this isn’t about our orienteering skills! Great paths throughout, a little muddy and uneven at times but these are the longer paths! Only downfall it had was there were quite a few poo bags about from inconsiderate people, which we picked up and disposed of with our own. But that’s not the sites fault, so still 5 stars! Love it here!

From Nottingham, you can take the Sherwood Arrow line for only 2 pounds in Victoria Bus Station, and after almost 2 hours, you are at the front door of the Forest. Lovely place with the only drawback that there are some people driving motorcycles in the footpaths. The rest very lovely and very beautiful oaks, chestnuts, beechs, birchs, and some Scott pines too.
