Excellent little cave dating back maybe 1000 years right underneath Melbourn Street in Royston. Pre booked tickets only, £10 each which is pretty good value. 21 steep steps and then a sloping path leads into the belljar shaped cave, not overly suitable for those with mobility issues.
Luke was a very good guide and explanation the history of the cave and all the carvings in the chalk walls. The whole visit takes about 40 mins and gives up some good photo opportunities.

The cave is a single chamber with amazing carving. It a mystery who and why they did it. The tour is around 45 minutes and really good for a different sort of trip out. It's in the centre of a pretty market town so easy to combine tge trip with a meal.

I thought it was brilliant . The story of how it was found , the mysteries surrounding it . Just 53 mins from St Pancras and 6 min walk from the station . If you want to do something different then do it . It’s just so weird here it is in Hertfordshire in a market town entered through a shop . If you like weird different experiences then come .

Make a day of it the town is cute and historic plus lovely walks nearby including a nature reserve at the Heath a few mins walk from the town .

Great day out from London in under an hour

A small cave with rich stories about Christianity history. Visited with tour guide’s explanation improved a lot on the visit experience.

A great experience and well worth a visit. very fascinating stories around how the cave was used . Our tour guide was very informative . I was expecting a short talk at the entrance and then just walk down, but our guide was giving information all through the experience and pointing things our and answering questions. Very friendly and relaxed. Can be a little slippery when raining but there are things to hold on to when walking down. A hidden treasure.

Absolutely fascinating place to stop for a visit. Such a wealth of history and mystery. Paid for a private tour and was not disappointed. Definitely a highlight of my UK trip so far!
