Lovely place to stay for a few days. Great area to walk around, however bare in mind there's not much around, so would need a car. Nice freshly baked Victoria sponge cake from the hosts (my favourite cake!) and some eggs from their chickens. Lots of room, comfy beds, nice bathrooms, very clean. Great washing machine with dryer. Sadly, WiFi was extremely weak and there is no good signal in the area, so if you need to do some work - you might struggle. The TVs in the bedrooms are very small so I'm lucky I've got a good eye sight. Also, I wish they provided more bin bags as one in each bin sadly wasn't enough.
Overall, great stay & would come back again. Thank you.

Had a wonderful few days in Millers Barn. Fabulous location, close to Beamish Living Museum, Newcastle and Durham. Quiet location with great views, loved seeing The Angel of the North in the distance from the farm. Comfortable cottage with good facilities. It was lovely to be greeted on our arrival with a still warm freshly baked Victoria sponge and freshly laid eggs. Would definitely recommend staying here and will return again.

We received an email in response to one I sent the owners, in it they advised us that they would not be there to greet us and that we were to look for the metal chicken outside the cottage. Well when we arrived there wasn't any numbers or names on the cottages and no sign of a metal chicken so I had to phone the owners who then told us to look for the duck outside. This also happened to other families arriving, it was all very confusing.|Once in side it was nice to find a homemade cake and some free range eggs. After a 4hour journey the first thing we wanted was a cup of tea, after reading previous reviews saying there was tea, coffee, and milk. There was only coffee, NO tea bags, or MILK. Luckily we had brought some with us.|The cottage was clean apart from a few cobwebs in corners of ceilings. It was very warm inside even though there was no heating on, especially the bathroom, the towel rail seemed to be on very high, tried to turn it down a little but the knob at the bottom was broken and the thermostat was already at its lowest.|We didn't sleep very well as the bed was so hard that it felt like sleeping on the floor and gave us bad backs, this is down to personal preference though, some people love a very firm bed.|The eggs were delicious, we would have liked to buy some more like it said in the welcome folder, but unfortunately there was no one around to ask where to purchase these.|The cottages are situated in a quite area with easy access to Beamish Living Museum which was great as we went twice during our stay.

What a fantastic find. We booked this a whole year in advance, for the Great North Run weekend rather than 2 hotel rooms and I'm glad we did. Although reasonably remote, it's not much of a drive to Gateshead or Newcastle so you get the best of both worlds.|On arrival we were greeted by the owner who pretty much left us to it and asked us to shout if we needed anything. Staying in the 2 bedroom pig run barn, we were greeted by a 1st class home made cake and a very homely little cottage. Despite the warm nights, I had the best nights sleep for a long while, there's zero light pollution and a cracking patio to sit of an evening and soak up the sun and give the resident farm dog a fuss when it does its rounds.

We were upgraded to Riding Cottage adjacent to the farmhouse and were blown away at how beautiful it was. Everything was catered including for, tea, coffee sugar & milk plus fuel for the logburner. The property was clean, spacious and well furnished, both bedrooms having vaulted/beamed ceilings and with 2 bathrooms, no arguments. The patio was perfect to watch the partridges in the garden and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Louise made us a cake which was fantastic. An absolutely lovely place to stay and we hope to be back at some point to enjoy more of the same. Thank you so much Angus and Louise
