We stayed here for a couple of nights as part of a driving tour of Norfolk and Suffolk. We were met by the host who was the epitome of refined politeness and shown to our rooms, which are all individually decorated and luxurious. Nothing was too much trouble. It's rather like a B&B in a country house - the manor is a large ex-rectory (obviously) and was decorated with many family heirlooms and more. Sort of like a national trust property in a way. Breakfast was on a shared long table in the dining room and the cooked food was excellent. I loved the long gravel drive too. The manor is in a small and extremely picturesque village which we didn't have time to explore, but really sets the scene as you drive into the property. The staff were extremely polite and helpful and we even met the two resident and delightfully labradors. All in all a pleasantly quiet and refined stay.

Read with incredulity the most recent negative reviews to see what other guests could have faulted as we couldn’t believe that you couldn’t enjoy a stay here. “Old-fashioned furniture”- what do you expect it’s a period manor house!?. “Frank was rude”- not to us he wasn’t, in fact we spent an hour on his terrace chatting to Frank and his wife and friends and he was a perfect host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay: facilities were excellent with a marvellous pool and tennis court (in perfect condition contrary to another review). Our room in the stable block was air-conditioned with a large walk-in shower and tea/coffee/drinks facilities. |We were met on arrival by a young man (son?) who explained all the facilities while giving us a tour. Everyone there was happy to help and offered recommendations for local restaurants etc. which proved to be good.|There are substantial grounds where you can walk or simply enjoy the peace and a croquet lawn for a relaxing activity. |Room was comfortable - mattress a bit firm for our comfort but nevertheless the room had everything we needed for a comfortable rest.|I suggest you ignore the negative reviews and try it for yourself as you won’t be disappointed.

Delightful country house set in matire immaculately groomed grounds. Very comfortable and friendly a welcome change fromm sterile corporate establishments. Own transport is a must as it is in a fairly secluded location, there are many places of historical interest within easy reach.||Very comfortable and peaceful ambience immaculately kept, apart from excellent breakfast no catering facilities. Honesty bar and room kettles and mini bars nice touch. Most, or all, reasonable requests met e.g. we were provided with a pot of tea in the luxurious lounge/drawing room, añthough strictly not a offered service.

A delightful place to stay. Our room had a large balcony which was a blissful place to sit and hot weather meant we made good use of the pool. Very comfortable and quiet.

Spacious and private - quiet & easy off road car parking. Weather was lovely for the swimming pool. Doors in bedroom didn't close properly in some instances but that's a minor point.

We had the most wonderful experience. A warm welcome from lovely proprietors and staff. Beautiful rooms with all the little touches that make you stay comfortable and an honesty bar in the sitting room.
Delicious, home-cooked breakfast Will definitely return.

RUDE. AND POMPOUS MANAGEMENT ||||If I could give the owners/management a ZERO rating for customer service and care I would. They deserve a ten for pomposity and being stuck up. ||||I called to ask about a concerning email I had received from the hotel - an issue they have where it seems that despite giving the hotel your credit card details to guarantee payment, months ahead of time, what they don’t tell you, is that they are in fact, unable to validate most cards due to security issues. You cannot therefore pay on arrival! ||This was never mentioned when I booked, and the email and phone call implied that I was going to do a runner and not show up. It demanded immediate payment, when we had agreed for me to pay on arrival, with the card guaranteeing the booking.||Concerned that this was a scam I called with concern, as I wasn’t able to access my laptop, being packed up to travel elsewhere that day. ||I could barely get a word in to explain my concerns about the booking because my head was bitten off, and Frank spoke to me for several minutes as if I was an infant. ||||Never, in decades of travelling, have I been spoken to in the manner that Frank spoke to me several days ahead of what was supposed to be a 4 night stay, which we had reserved months in advance. ||Rude does not begin to describe his off hand manner and how he spoke down to me. ||Who needs this when you are working or going on holiday?||AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
