2/5
We stayed here for a few weeks after having to leave our flat due to fire cladding issues.
The apartment is nothing like how it is advertised. When we arrived we were trying to use the code to enter the property but we had been given the wrong code. Our contact would not answer the phone and it took us nearly an hour to get a response. Luckily a neighbour was able to help us get into the building.
There were strategically placed rugs to cover the stains on the carpet (which is screwed to the floor, so be careful if you’re not wearing shoes). As you can see, the stains are so extensive that the rugs didn’t cover them all.
The freezer was full of ice build up which meant you can only use 2/3 of the compartments, the washing machine drawer had a huge build up of washing powder and black mould. The floor tiles in the kitchen and main bathroom were both cracked. The covers on the access points were taped to the tiles in the kitchen, as you can see one of them has fallen down.
The vacuum cleaner made the whole property smell disgusting.
There were 5 lightbulbs in the main bathroom, only one worked. This stopped working and due to the state of the light fitting I did not feel comfortable changing it myself. A handyman was sent out who informed us that “these lights always go.” I questioned if it was a correct light fitting for a bathroom, he wasn’t sure. He replaced 3 bulbs, 2 stopped working the same day.
There was black mould in the silicone in the main bathroom. It smelt of urine in both. The en-suite bathroom just seemed dirty. I asked for advice using the showers on 5/7 as the temperature was hugely inconsistent and would only stay hot for 2 mins at a time, but running a bath took nearly an hour. The hot water in the kitchen was intermittent and would randomly turn scalding hot. I chased our contact numerous times, a plumber was finally sent on on the 19/8, he called out a boiler engineer who put an “at risk, do not use” warning on the boiler.
Kitchen bin had several items of rubbish including food at the bottom (no black bag).
We were advised it was a serviced apartment, as there was nowhere to try the full sets of bedding in a day we were relying on this, however we didn’t have anyone come to the property until 31/7 to provide clean bedding.
My contact did not respond to my messages chasing up the plumber on 16/7 until 31/7.
The apartment was advertised as “ready to use” and having everything we’d need, however when we tried to use the kitchen, EVERYTHING was sticky. I had to wash everything prior to use to remove the sticky/greasy residue. Whilst cooking, grease from the dirty extractor fan dripped down into the food I was making. I mentioned this to the cleaners who said that the extractor fan and hood was supposed to have been replaced.
Sofa bed in the room with two single beds is broken and ripped, be careful if you sit on it. My six year old stayed in that room and sat on the sofa only for it to collapse on itself.
I resorted to putting blankets everywhere we sat as the whole property just felt grubby.
I messaged our contact the morning after our first night regarding the state of the property and they sent a cleaner out. When we returned it seemed that the only thing that they had done was clean the washing machine drawer. I was informed that the carpets were due to be replaced over the summer, we were later told that they’ll probably tell that to the next guest too and that the owners other properties are the same.
There were clothes and tobacco in the drawers in the master bedroom. Cupboard/drawer handles that had fallen off or missing screws in various different areas of the property. One of the kitchen cupboard doors was nearly falling off of its hinges.
We were grateful to have a roof over our heads in really difficult circumstances, but a huge amount of money was paid for a dirty, damaged property that was advertised in a misleading way.
