What a find! A very interesting and beautifully presented museum and seperate country house, Quex House. We encountered a wonderful member of staff called Fenje. She's very knowledgeable and informative about the museum and the house, as she was also our House Tour Guide.
The on site cafe, Felicity's is also excellent. Indoor and outdoor seating with wonderful, delicious homemade food.
There is also Quex gardens but we did not have time to visit them.
The entry to the whole site is a little confusing, as to where to park for each area. Brown road signage points to Quex Gardens but this also leads to the Cotton-Powell Museum and Felicity's Cafe.

Beautiful museum, well cared for. Stunning collection. Didn't give five stars as would love to see more gardens like 20 years ago . Especially the walled secret garden. Trees Stunning, it's a big area.

As soon as you walk into the first gallery it is a wow factor, so much to see, the price includes the gardens, the house and the museum, I am not going to put to many photos up to spoil the first impression. But in our option this is a must visit. Currently only open weekends and bank holidays. Also there is a lot of other things to do/see on the estate

We were here as part of a group and we visited the house and museum, also had a lunch and afternoon tea, all prearranged. It is an interesting place with some eclectic history told by guide. The museum was most interesting for the Powell-Cotton family collection on travels around the world. Some extensive animals were collected and preserved, and native artefacts from a number of countries. Beyond that, there is very nice garden space and walled garden and hot houses. Also, a carp pond. Very pleasant on a nice day.

A great museum, garden and heritage house. We visited with our 3 year old, who loved each area.

The gardens are great to walk around, see the flowers, pond and cactus in the green house. With plenty of picnic benches to stop for a break.

The house is great and is booked by tour only, so check the time and book when you arrive. You get to learn about the Powell-Cotton family and see some great pieces of art.

The museum is full of wonder with lots of exotic animals in taxidermy form. Lots of space to view, sit and also plenty of activities and touring backpacks to keep little ones entertained.

Free on site parking, easy walking around all areas and a great day out. Highly recommend!

Been here many times since I was a child. Very interesting and a huge collection of artefacts and stuffed animals from all over Africa. I feel like they have made the museum smaller?
I like the interactive stuff toward the back that you can physically touch and feel.
Vegans and animal lovers may not appreciate all the stuffed animals but for better or worse they’re there and can be used and viewed for educational purposes. It’s history.
